I enjoyed photographing these shoes so much with my family and friends. I want to give a huge shout out to Photo Prop Floors & Backdrops for their incredible floordrops and backdrops. Their customer service and products are beyond professional. Also, I want to give thanks to Erin of Fancy Fabrics for her contribution to the book. I appreciate your donations and support. Next, a big thank-you to my many testers for their time and effort.
Also, I must give thanks to Pam Hoenig, my editor, for her hard work and to the rest of the Stackpole team for their assistance. And last but not least, I need to give a million thanks to my sweet family. You put up with my crochet mess and craftiness, and you still love me Jason, I love you so much. You make my dreams come true and then shower me with yarn! Thanks for being my biggest fan and pushing me daily to be the best I can be. Jacob, Kimberly, Allison, James, and Ryan, youre the best kiddos and youre more than I could ever ask for I love you all to the moon and back and then some!
A s a kid I wandered into my aunts closet one evening and I remember seeing a sight Ill never forget! SHOES! They were everywhereall sorts of colors and styles. I couldnt believe that one person could have so many different shoes! In particular, I remember a sparkly gold pair that just bedazzled me.
I imagined that my aunt had a pair for every outfit or maybe even every day of the year! Looking back, Im sure there werent as many as my memory recollects (or maybe there were!). Fortunately for you, I was inspired that night. At that time, it wasnt for crochet designs, but fast forward twenty-plus years, and voila! I promise that you are going to love crocheting your own slippers! Why? One reason is that you can have the comfort you crave with the design you love. Also, the designs in this book are perfect for any season, no matter the temperature. Multiple sizes for each pattern give you the flexibility to make whatever pattern you choose for whomever you choose. Snuggle up with your hook and yarn and make your very own pair of slippers, socks, or loafers! To ensure success, you must pay close attention to gauge.
If you dont, youll end up with clown shoes or Barbie slippers. Youll find designs at all levels of skill. If youve never crocheted slippers before, and even if you are an experienced crocheter, its a good idea to start with an easy pattern just to get the feel of it, then move on to more challenging designs. The memory of seeing all of those shoes in my aunts closet has stuck with me for many years, and now through crochet I have been able to add my own designs for slippers and shoes to my closet. I hope you enjoy adding to your own collection of footwear!
