Introduction
I want to thank you and congratulate you for downloading the book, Aquaponics for Beginners.
The book contains proven steps and strategies on how to Aquaponics for Beginners. It is all about how to grow fish and growing vegetables at home. The book will enable you how to take a simple venture of aquaponics and take it to more sophisticated and commercial based setup. From introduction to conclusion it contains information about every topic in a very detail and comprehensive way. You will be left with nothing except to get grip on the entire subject with optimum out if implemented accordingly.
Before you start the aquaponics as a hobby or business its important to study the book at least once. It will give you complete picture of what you are going to do and what will be way you make it a successful setup. The book throws light on the entire requirements from fish to plant, basket to pipe and other accessories. It not only highlights the physical aspects of the subject but also some invisible scientific aspects that are required to be kept in mind. You will have probably no idea about the temperature of water, the pH level and other aspects like the range maintenance.
Fish types, their capabilities to adjust to environment, the size, the colors and other features of fish are described in a very detail. By studying the book you will hopefully, be able to your job without any external support. You can do the job with your own help and support and yes, this book will be your hand before moving to the next stage. It will tell you the entire stages with step by step approach. Its easy to understand and implement the entire stages well on time before you lose either fish or roots of the plants to water lodged.
Thanks again for downloading this book, I hope you enjoy it!
In addition, I would like to recommend an excellent video course at www.aquaponics4you.com. Your will learn how to set up an aquaponics system easily, cheaply and quickly.

Chapter 1: Distinction b/w Aquaponics and Hydroponics
There are many definitions that combine hydroponics aquaculture to give birth to aquaponics. Thats the reason many people consider them the same thing and even unaware of their difference.
There are many differences between these two. First of all, hydroponics is quick to start. You can simply buy the nutrients commercially available and can add to your reservoir. You can then be able to start growing your plantation. On the other hand for your aquaponics system, you will need to wait till the cycling process start and it will almost take half a year that the system will stand on its feet. However, after the initial phase the aquaponics system is too fast in production than hydroponics system.
The second difference is sterilization of hydroponics system. The aquaponics system is dependent on bacterial and the system can flourish if there is availability of bacteria in the entire process.
One another distinction between these two is the PH value of the water in the system. For hydroponics, the best PH range is 5.5 to 6.0 while it is 6.8 to 7.0 in case of aquaponics system.
The aquaponics system is an ecosystem while hydroponics system is in reality is robotic. Aquaponics is dependent on fish, wastes, bacteria etc. to give birth to interdependent system with complete support to one another. This is something that can make different from hydroponics a more structured and detailed system. Hydroponics is depended on the individual owning it. If they stop running it, it will collapse. The aquaponics system to some extent is independent from human involvement if the pumps are operational.
As hydroponics plants are more exposed to disease thats why this systems sterilization is important for this system to run. Many hydroponics plants are drastically affected by a plant disease called the root rot. Fungus is the main cause for such disease and the fungus is known as Pythium. But it cannot almost aquaponics systems. This is mainly due to bacterial presence and the aquatic life can make it difficult for Pythium to affect the system. It is still under research studies.
Another distinction between these systems is the discarding of nutrients. In aquaponics there is no need of nutrients as the fish wastes are broken down through bio filter and do the job of nutrients for the plants. While for hydroponic system there is need to ensure nutrients for the plants. Hydroponics system needs proper checks and balance. This is the main reason of its more laborious than aquaponics system.
Most people prefer an aquaponics system due to its convenience, fun, less laborious, cheaper in the long run and dont need to invest high in the beginning.
Aquaponics setup - Floating: A barrel of Hydroton is used to brew the fish waste into fertilizer, then siphons to the grow beds on hourly basis. The floating system is so much easier to add/remove plants. The scaling of the system also becomes easier. - Image courtesy of Waleed Alzuhair at Flickr.com
