I have to admit that Im not a big reader of diet instruction. However, having started in on this book I realized it was very different from the normal type. Firstly, Weekss sense of humor soon spills over into what is, after all, a somewhat dry subject. Secondly, although it follows the dietary precepts of Seventh-day Adventists, theres not a trace of religion in it. For that I was glad as Ive always been suspicious of congregations who believe the Deity is concerned with our food selections. No, The Healthiest People on Earth is simply a guide to how we can benefit from a diet that is almost certain to not only prolong our lives but to help us keep out of the doctors office. Throughout the book, I kept feeling that this all made absolute sense and in fact, it is the right thing to do. What is also helpful, however, is a complete chapter on cheating, if you fall off the rails from time to time.
