TRIGGERRECORDING SESSION WITH IAN MACKAYE AT INNER EAR
SOULSIDE WAS A BAND FROM WASHINGTON, DC, THAT FORMED IN 1986 AND BEGAN RECORDING AND TOURING AS PART OF THE DC HARDCORE PUNK DISCHORD RECORDS SCENE OF THE MID-1980S. WE TOURED EXTENSIVELY THROUGH THE UNITED STATES, CANADA, AND FINALLY EUROPE. OUR RELEASES TRIGGERAND HOT BODI-GRAMARE CONSIDERED MILESTONE RECORDS BY SOME. WE WERE ONE OF THE FIRST US HARDCORE BANDS TO TOUR IN EASTERN EUROPE BEFORE THE FALL OF THE BERLIN WALL IN 1989. HOT BODI-GRAMWAS RECORDED IN EINDHOVEN (IN THE NETHERLANDS) AT THE END OF OUR FINAL TOUR, AND WOULD BE OUR SWAN SONG.
STARTING AS LNCHMEAT, WE RECORDED AT BLACK POND AND INNER EAR IN 1985 AND RELEASED A SPLIT 7 WITH MISSION IMPOSSIBLE ON AMANDA MACKAYES SAMMICH RECORDS. CHRIS THOMSON DEPARTED THE BAND NOT TOO LONG AFTER WE RECORDED OUR FIRST ALBUM UNDER THE NAME SOULSIDE.

SOMETIMES WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE NOT-SO-TOUGH WEAR A LOT OF T-SHIRTS. ON THIS PARTICULAR LEG OF OUR TOUR, WE WISELY DECIDED THAT WE WOULD GET T-SHIRTS IN EVERY COLOR THE T-SHIRT COMPANY OFFERED. WHEN WE SNUCK ACROSS THE CANADIAN BORDER WITH OUR UNDECLARED MERCH, WE EACH WORE ABOUT 18 T-SHIRTS. WE COULD BARELY MOVE OUR ARMS AND OUR RAINBOW-COLORED COLLARS WERE A DEAD GIVEAWAY THAT WE WERE SCOFFLAWS OR FASHION TRENDSETTERS.
