This Handbook is a comprehensive guide to all aspects of sexual health. Reflecting the mainstream move to provide integrated sexual health services, this Handbook provides a one-stop shop of information. It provides up-to-date, evidence-based guidance on diagnostics and management in genitourinary medicine, HIV, and contraception. A holistic approach to sexual health is emphasized with information on genital pain, psychological aspects, prevention, and sociocultural issues (including sections on child sexual exploitation and female genital mutilation). Although primarily aimed at those working in UK services, it is also envisaged to be of global use to all those with an interest in sexual health, whatever their level of expertise and wherever they may practice.

People with sexual health concerns or those with HIV may present first to primary care services or to healthcare professionals working in a wide variety of specialties. It is intended that the concise information in this book will address the needs of both specialists and generalists working across these different settings.

With 2017 seeing the centenary of sexual health service provision, free at the point of care, in the UK, we continue to see service provision evolve. The last 100 years have seen a plethora of changes and we continue to see more. Changes to previous editions include a chapter as an introduction to gender diversity to provide a useful background to ensure trans, including non-binary, people are able to access appropriate sexual healthcare.
