Rollie Allaire
Rollie Allaire is a Holistic Life & Wellness Coach whose Spirit Name is Geegado Megwan Kwe, which means Talking Feather Woman.
Since 2001, Rollie has drawn on her extensive career background of clinical psychotherapy skills and, in recent years, combined that with Energy Work, Chakra work, Crystal Reiki, ThetaHealing, Akashic Record reading and clearings, meditation, Moon Medicine teachings and looking at life through the Medicine Wheel in the form of Life & Wellness Coaching and Facilitating.
She helps women with anxiety by giving them the ability to soulfully master their emotions, connect to their true power and learn to feel better in order to take massive action in their life so that they gain confidence, feel self-assured, strong, happy and surround themselves with a supportive, connected community when they feel most isolated.
Rollie creates safe spaces both virtually and in-person for women to experience deep, life-changing transformations and healing. And she strongly believes that each person has the ability to heal themselves. Her job is to bridge the gap between the client and the methods that best suit their process. No matter what our experience in life, we can change our lives by taking action and not staying stuck. By helping ourselves, we help others who are struggling with similar experiences. No one comes through this world without struggle, but its how we move through those struggles that get us to the other side.
She also owns Bridging the Gap Wellness Center in Haileybury, Ontario, where she works with other practitioners who provide their services within their small Northeastern Ontario community. She is a proud and loving mother of two adult boys, a wife, and a daughter. You can find Rollie at her website .
Wisdom from the Spirit Realm
By Rollie Allaire
I rewrite this article in light of the Canadian news that 215 children were found in a mass grave at a Residential School in British Columbia. Some of the children found were no more than three years old.
The story of the Residential Schools is not my story. It is the story of my ancestors and my family. I am fortunate to not have had to live this experience or anyone in my immediate family. However, it has impacted my life.
Enduring is described as existing or remaining in the same state for an indefinitely long time: abiding, continuing, durable, lasting, long-lasting, long-lived, long-standing, old, perdurable, perennial, permanent, persistent (The American Heritage Rogets Thesaurus). Wisdom is described as the soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgment (Oxford Languages).
This is what my experiences have taught me. Enduring wisdom doesnt have to come at a great cost, but sometimes thats the circumstances. Over the years, I have learned more about my culture, and I put into practice the things that we were not able to be taught.
When I decided that I wanted to write in this book, I did not intend to take on any political stances. However, this issue is way too big not to address.
For those of you who do not know me or are new to me, my Spirit Name is Geegado Megwan Kwe, which means Talking Feather Woman. My name was gifted to me by an Elder. The story is quite funny, but I will explain this a little further down the road.
When the murder of George Floyd happened in the United States, there were a lot of Canadians talking about how there was no discrimination in Canada. People were appalled by the mistreatment of the black people in such a diverse country as the United States. Canada is no different. The exception is ethnicity.
I wanted to take you on the journey of how I have been able to endure my wisdom in my short time on this earthly plane.
I remember when I was working at our local Womens Shelter back in 2001, and I first learned the truth about our Canadian history with First Nations people. We had an Elder come in and teach about the Hidden Holocaust right here in Canada. I was mortified to think about what was going on.
I knew about the last Residential Schools closing in 1996. Unfortunately, our government took very little responsibility, at least from my perspective. We hear how the churches are responsible for this genocide. However, it was the Government of Canada who wanted to kill the Indian out of the child. This was quoted by Sir John A. MacDonald, who was our first Prime Minister of Canada. His plan was to remove the children from their parents to force them to assimilate as a Canadian in this new country. This country wasnt new; it was very much inhabited by what they referred to as savages.
As I shared, in British Columbia, the remains of 215 children were found. And some as young as three. People were mortified and shocked that this could happen historically. This isnt part of our history; it is part of our present.
In 1996 when the last Residential School closed, I was having my 2nd child. He is now a young adult. These children who survived the terror, torture, sexual, physical and mental abuse are part of this generation. These are parents or grandparents of the children my own children have grown up with. This isnt past information. Yes, it started in the 1800s, but it continued until the late 1900s. Thats a lot of families being impacted.
These are human beings. And my ancestors. Because of these actions taken by the government, I continue to learn the teachings of our ancestors. We are fortunate to have some Elders who have been able to continue to pass on the teachings.
I was about 10 when my great-grandfather passed away. We grew up and lived in the City of Timmins, Ontario. As he became more and more ill, my great-grandfather would say, On nest pas des Indians, which means We are not Indians. I never understood why he would say that all the time when we would go over. My thoughts were, Of course not. We dont live on a reserve. We live in the city. Indians is a term used in the Indian Act to describe the First Nations people of Canada.
