Foreword

.

Simply put, I wish that I had found this book and met this author earlier in my nursing career.

The Book: Where was this information when I was considering nursing school?

Nursing school is a tornado. Unlike the usual blustery squalls of most college endeavors, it can knock you off your feet. In the course of a few short months of immersion into a nursing curriculum, you will learn a new languageyes, the field of medicine and nursing has its own grammar and its own confounding syntax. You will tackle interpersonal and intimate care-giving challenges, you will find your own threshold for nauseating experiences, and you will tell yourself, many times, "I just don't think I can do this." Eventually, however, you will see yourself doing amazing things, feeling like an imposter the whole time, but doing them nonetheless. The information in this book will prepare you for and help protect you from the storm.

If you are just launching your nursing career, or are taking a few tentative steps of inquiry, I beseech you: read this book.
