W hen I started my wedding business more than twelve years ago, destination weddings were just starting to become popular. I remember a couple dressed in traditional wedding attire hiring a bird man to bring in and strategically place several parrots and tropical birds on their shoulders, arms, and even their heads, all just to get the perfect tropical-themed photograph. Working in video production at the time, I got to know everyone in the business and every wedding location available. I discovered how different a traditional wedding in Hawaii often is and how amazing a Hawaiianthemed wedding can be. And most important, I learned how to serve the destination client.

With all the research I conducted, all the weddings I experienced, and everything I learned (together with my keen eye), I developed a growing urge to provide couples with the opportunity to experience the best of what Hawaii has to offer on one of the most incredible days of their lives. The pure romance of the occasion inspired me so much so that I started a company and vowed to be the leader in the industry by constantly setting the standard. Now, twelve years later, dresses have changed, hairstyles have changed, colors have changed, trends have changedyet there is one thing that remains the same: Couples hunger for something special, fun, and exciting. They crave to have a wedding designed to be a reflection of who they are. More than anything else, they want a wedding that is more intimate and memorable than the traditional wedding back home. With more and more brides catching on to this trend, Hawaii has grown into one of the worlds premier wedding destinations. After all, why not? It has everything a destination bride could ever dream of, and more.

More than twenty thousand wedding ceremonies are conducted each year in Hawaii, so it was astonishing to me that there was no accurate information about Hawaii to read, carry around, and share with family and friends. After scouring many wedding books, bridal guides, wedding planners, and countless magazines, I realized that not one of them had been written by anyone with experience in the field. From flowers to venues to vendors, there is no typical wedding when you marry in Hawaii, and most importantly, a very different set of rules apply when youre planning a destination wedding.

I have planned thousands of weddings, from the most glorious celebrity weddings to the most private, intimate affairs. Working with destination brides from all over the world, I have been the eyes and ears for many who have not even set foot in Hawaii until their wedding festivities begin.
