The Disneyland Resort, California Adventure, Universal Studios, and the Anaheim Area, 2nd edition
Dear Reader,
For many of you, your Disneyland trip is a dream vacation. For many years, it was my vacation dream, too, but the first time I visited Disneyland, I was disappointed. In the years since Walt Disney first realized his dream, the park he created has grown so popular that long lines can sour even the sweetest temperament. It took me more than a half-dozen visits to learn how to put the happy back into the Happiest Place on Earth, but once I did, I found the Disneyland of my dreams. After ten years writing about California and exploring its nooks and crannies, the Disney theme parks remain among my favorite destinations.
In this book, I share my best tips and secrets: how to save money, stay out of line, keep your energy up, find the best place to watch the parades, and much more. I hope you can apply my experience to make your trip the best ever.
One of the biggest Disneyland myths is that you have to spend many days to see and do it all. Using this book's timesaving tips, you can enjoy all of Disneyland and California Adventure in three days, leaving time to explore the surrounding area. You'll find a cornucopia of ideas for other things to do in Chapters 15 through 20.
Relax and enjoy your trip. Planning will help you make the most of it, but don't overdo it. Be flexible if an unexpected pleasure arises. Have fun. When you get home, e-mail me at gocalifornia.guide@about.com to let me know how it went.
To Walt Disney, who (in my child's mind) appeared in my living room every week just to tell me about his Disneyland, the stuff that childhood dreams of travel were made of. It took me almost forty years to see it in person, but it was all that he promised.
