Introduction
Welcome to The Independent Guide toUniversal Studios Hollywood 2016. This travel guide will take youthrough the entire process of visiting the theme park from choosinga hotel, to a look at each attraction, and even ways to save timein queue lines.
Universal Studios Hollywood (oftenabbreviated to USH herein) is the ninth most popular theme park inthe USA, with almost 7 million visitors in 2014. However, comparingit to other theme parks is a bit unfair USH is not just a themepark but a real working film studio going back over 100 years.
Even since opening day in 1915, the studiooffered tours of the sets and backlots. In 1930, however, whenmovies with sound came about, the tour had to be discontinued asguests were disrupting production.
In 1964, the theme park experience openedwith a revamped Studio Tour. Ever since, attractions have beenadded, the Studio Tour has been expanded and the park attracts morevisitors than ever before. In total, the theme park now housestwenty attractions, shows and other experiences.
2016 is an extremely exciting time to visitas the park is going through a huge revamp with many newattractions. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened in Aprilthis year, with an incredible level of theming, live shows andfantastic rides. In Summer 2016, a new Walking Dead maze will alsodebut.

Tickets:
Getting the right Universal StudiosHollywood ticket is crucial, and it can save you a lot of money.There are several different ticket options to consider.
Advanced Tickets
Advanced tickets can be bought by guestsfrom anywhere around the world. The easiest place to purchase thesetickets is the official Universal Studios Hollywood website at www.universalstudioshollywood.com .There are two types of advanced tickets: General admission ticketsthat allow you access to the theme park on a pre-specified date,and Anytime tickets that allow you to enter the park any day,without having to choose the day in advance.
Child prices apply to children aged 3 to 9years old. Children under 3 get free admission into the theme parks(proof of age may be requested on entry).

These tickets are priced at $115 per adultand $109 per child.
By visiting the Universal Studios Hollywoodwebsite and simulating a ticket purchase, you can check which pricebracket your tickets will fall into. Advanced purchase generaladmission tickets are always $10 to $25 cheaper than tickets boughton the day itself at the theme park.
Front of the Line Ticket
A front of the line ticket allows access tothe theme park for one day, and front of the line access to eachattraction once, as well as priority seating at each show. Pricingis the same for each guest aged over 3.
Tickets bought on the Universal StudiosHollywood website will have a $0.99 fee added per ticket. Inaddition, tickets bought via the USH website include free EarlyAdmission to the The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Advanced tickets are non-transferable,non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
Tickets bought online can be printed athome, collected at kiosks at the entrance to the theme park, orshipped for an extra fee.
Gate Price Tickets
If you do not purchase your tickets inadvance, you will need to purchase them at the theme park entranceticket booths. These are gate price tickets, and essentially thesame as anytime admission tickets featured above. They are pricedat $115 for an adult and $109 for a child.
Front of the the Line tickets purchase atthe theme park are $10 more expensive than the advanced purchaseprice.
Annual Passes
Annual passes allow you to visit UniversalStudios Hollywood as often as you wish (subject to blackout dateson some passes) at a low per-visit price. In addition, specialperks are offered to Passholders including discounts on dining andmerchandise. There are three types of annual pass available.
For the Season Pass, the first visit must bebefore 27th May and the pass expires 15th December 2016. All otherannual passes are valid for one year.
Prices are the same for all guestsregardless of age. A $10 discount is available for all passesbought online, except the Season Pass.
Top Tip: If you are planning twovisits to the park within a period of 365 days, an annual pass canbe a real bargain if the blackout dates work for you.
