Dr Fran Smith is a counselling psychologist and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and the British Psychological Society. Fran has worked in a variety of NHS and private settings in both clinical and teaching capacities. She has trained and practised using a variety of therapeutic models; however, she tends to draw most from cognitive behavioural, mindfulness-based, and acceptance and commitment therapy models. She is an advocate of dynamic, time-limited therapy that is focused collaboratively and specifically on the needs of the client(s). In addition to her work with a range of clients with a broad variety of presenting problems, Fran specializes in helping people to adjust to living with acute and chronic health conditions, including cardiac problems, diabetes, chronic pain, cancer, HIV disease, autoimmune conditions and respiratory conditions. She developed and ran a psychology service for a cardiology department in a major London hospital, and also has experience of working within plastic surgery and diabetes departments. Her research interests lie in adjustment to change in physical health and change in appearance.
Dr Carina Eriksen is a chartered and Health and Care Professions Council-registered counselling psychologist with an extensive London-based private practice for young people, adults, couples and families. She is a consultant with Dynamic Change Consultants and an accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, having specialized at the Institute of Psychiatry. Carina has managed a team of psychologists, cognitive behavioural therapists and psychotherapists in the NHS for several years and was previously an external supervisor at The Priory. She has extensive experience consulting in clinical and organizational settings in the UK and Europe. She is also a consultant at Colet Court, the preparatory school for St Pauls School for Boys, London, and works closely with several other British and international schools in London. She is actively involved in research, with a specific interest in the topic of work stress and worklife balance, anxiety, panic, fear of flying, the psychological effects of physical health problems and the psychological effects of living with cancer. Carina and her colleagues are often invited to present these topics at conferences in the UK and abroad.
