The
Kama Sutra Book
Dear Reader:
It has been fascinating writing this book. I thought I knew quite a lot about the Kama Sutra but I found myself enthralled with what I didnt know. I have always loved trying new positions and I have had a willing partner to help along the way. The Kama Sutra is so much more than positions, though.
The depth with which the culture that produced the Kama Sutra looked at all aspects of life and integrated them is impressive. It created a philosophical ideology that included the study of sexuality as a science, which was openly debated between scholars, sages, religious persons, and society alike. Taught by those who knew it best, sexuality was honored.
I have studied Tantric philosophy and neo-Tantric techniques for many years. I have been a part of spiritual circles, run businesses, raised three daughters, held my father in my arms while he died, traveled all over the world, written books and articles, and produced films, yet something about this particular journey has been different. I have finally created the solid realization that there are ways to live in the world that bring spirit, harmony, and right-livelihood together. The EverythingKama Sutra Book literally flowed out of me, inspired by the ancient texts that are included in it. It has been an exquisite experience for me, on multiple levels.
In love and gratitude,

Introduction
THE NAME KAMA SUTRA conjures the image of exotic passion and erotic skills from the past. The old illustrations and fine art paintings depict couples in ecstatic positions with their bodies naturally aligned. We believe that they had something that we dont have today. This is true; they had a love manual to top all love manuals. Created by many scholars, in the oral tradition, over thousands of years, the Kama Sutra has come to us today by sheer grace. It could have been lost forever except for an ingenious Englishman in the 1860s, who translated it and brought it to the West.
The ancient written version of the Kama Sutra is attributed to a man named Vatsyayana, who said it best when he wrote: Texts on the science of Kama (pleasure) are of help only until passion is excited; but once the wheel of passion begins to roll, there is no sutra and no order. The society that studied, taught, and created the Kama Sutra texts knew that every young couple would need help if they were ever to get to a place where sexuality became a high art form for them. It was a culture that honored the sciences, religious duty, and family. It also honored the science of sex, which was seen as a high art form. It was considered necessary for a good citizen to be knowledgeable in sexual techniques, caring, compassion, and relationship skills.
The text excerpts from the original Kama Sutra are interesting in and of themselves. The original is written in sutra form: short verses, or aphorisms. This allows the space for a teacher to help interpret for new students. It is also perfect for a modern book on the subject because the original texts support the idea of a teacher adding an infusion of examples, details, and new applications.
The EverythingKama Sutra Book is filled with exercises, activities, knowledge, and fun possibilities. It covers a wide variety of positions, expanding orgasmic pleasure, and the art of seduction. It details the many arts that a citizen in the times of the Kama Sutra was expected to study, and draws important comparisons to todays citizen.
The EverythingKama Sutra Book also explains the different types of bodies we have and how best to make them fit together. Kissing and erotic touching techniques are explored, as well as enhancement techniques that will take the practitioner to an even higher state of ecstasy. Relationships, aphrodisiacs, and lovers emotions are also covered here. You can even learn how to dance an exotic dance for your lover, if you so desire.
The whole text of the original Kama Sutra has not been covered here because some of it does not apply in todays world. For example, harems arent common, though some men may like to fantasize about them, and other detailed entries held no pertinent information for this particular book. Regardless, the book is overflowing with playful, vulnerable, and insightful ideas to bring more joy into your relationship and your lovemaking.
