At the time, prudish moral code of Victorian England prevented Burtons book from major distribution. However the sexual revolution of the 1960s brought new interest to its sensual wisdom. Today, The Kama Sutra of Vatsyayana is one of the most well-known and widely read books in the world.

Kama Sutra comes from two Sanskrit words, meaning rules (kama) of love (sutra). Kama Sutra can also be translated as Sayings of Passion or Aphorisms of Desire. No matter the exact English meaning of the phrase, the Kama Sutra is a detailed guidebook, among other things, on how a couple can achieve a richer, fuller, more mutually satisfying sex life together.
