Michael Jay Geierbecame fascinated with electronics when he was five years old, and has spent his life designing, repairing and writing about technology. By age eight, he ran his own neighborhood repair service that was profiled in The Miami News, sometimes charging as much as fifty cents to fix a tape recorder or a transistor radio. As an adult, he went on to work in numerous service centers in Miami, Boston and Seattle, earning a bit more than that. Michael was also a pioneer in the field of augmentative communications, helping a noted Boston clinic develop computer speech synthesis systems for children with cerebral palsy. In addition, he has served as a consultant to numerous technology companies, large and small.
