TRENT FAMILY GENEAOLOGY
T rent is an Anglo-Saxon name from the town of Trent in Dorset England. This town is along the Trent River. The Trent name was first found in Somerset, England where they had a family seat from ancient times. They have been there since before the Norman Conquest of 1066.
The Trent family was one of the earlier families to immigrate to the United States. They come from France and England and were settled here as early as 1673. Some of the maternal lines came to America as early as 1630. The other relatives are a mixture of races and cultures. These maternal family lines (the wives of the Trent men) came from Ireland, Germany, Switzerland and England.
There were huge Virginia landowners and friends with many of the original Virginia families. Some of them stayed in Virginia and this family line migrated to Hancock / Hawkins County, Tennessee around 1797.
The Trent family line is related to Thomas Jefferson, President of the United States. Please note the interesting relatives of Thomas Jefferson who are also related to the Branch line and Trent line. The Jefferson family connection is listed at the end of this book.
Please keep in mind that all the dates and facts arent always 100% accurate due to census records, misspellings and sometimes incorrect (but close) dates of birth and death. Public records are not always accurate.
The importance of doing family history is so we can pass it along to our descendants. It is important and satisfying to know where and who we come from, the mixture of all our races and cultures. Knowing your family history gives you a sense of yourself. Many have great stories that can be passed down through the next generations.
