Understanding High Blood Pressure
Dr Shahid Aziz (MBChB, MD, MRCP) is a consultant cardiologist at North Bristol NHS Trust and the Bristol Heart Institute. He works in a large teaching hospital looking after patients with all types of heart conditions, including hypertension, heart attacks and heart failure. His particular interest is the treatment of coronary artery disease with coronary angioplasty and stents. His research interests include optimization of angioplasty results, and he has published several papers in the field of interventional cardiology. He plays a leading role in medical teaching through Bristol University, and on the General Medical Council as a member of the review panel for cardiology specialist registration. His website is at .
Dr Zara Aziz is a GP working in a large and busy urban practice in Bristol. She has interests in cardiovascular health, family medicine and disease prevention. She is involved in medical education and trains junior doctors to become GPs. She is a keen medical writer and writes for a number of publications, including a Doctors orders column for The Guardian.
