Welcome to Slovenia

The first time I drove through the Julian Alps, I thought Id arrived in heaven. The Soa River seemed a purer shade of turquoise, and the mountain valleys seemed deeper and quieter and more beautiful than anywhere Id ever been. Over the years that followed, Ive watched bears in the southwestern forests and marvelled at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Hrastovlje. Ive eaten likrofi in Idrija and seafood by the sea in perfect Piran. At each step, my love affair with the country has deepened, and theres never any place Id rather be.

Slovenias Top Experiences
SLOVENIAS ALPS

In Slovenias northwest youll find one of Europes least-known, yet most beautiful mountain ranges. The Julian Alps are a glorious world of snow-capped mountains, pristine mountain streams and pretty villages. Slovenias highest summit, stirring mountain passes connected by sinuous roads and hiking trails, and Lake Bled, one of Europes most picturesque lakes: these are the highlights but theres so much more to enjoy while youre here.
