Acknowledgments

The concept for this Educator Wellness book and project was birthed by our individual, and then our collaborative, response to the relentless stress and change placed on every educator who navigates our incredible profession.

When we presented the concept of Wellness Solutions for Educators to Jeff Jones and the leaders at Solution Tree, they immediately embraced the idea and, more important, helped advance, improve, and launch our concept into a reality. We cannot thank Douglas Rife, Sarah Payne-Mills, Shannon Ritz, Ali Cummins, Renee Marshall, Claudia Wheatley, Jesse Loudenbarger, and Erica Dooley-Dorocke enough. Special thanks to Jeff Jones as well, whose belief in supporting the work of the authors is only surpassed by his actions.

A book like this requires an unending amount of time, drafts and re-writes, and more. If it reads well, it is only because of the lead editor and her editorial team. Special thanks to Tonya Cupp, who cares about this topic as much as we do, and who gave so much of her own time and wisdom to make the book so much more fluid and complete for you, the reader. Thanks, too, to Sarah, Rian, Amy, Mark, and Elijah from her team!

We would also like to thank our reviewers extraordinaire: Chris Mason, Julie Schmidt, Jeremy Adams, Jessica Hannigan, Jasmine Kullar, Paula Maeker, Joshua Ray, Georgina Rivera, Nathan Lang-Raad, Angie Freese, Katie Graves, Amy Kozucko, and Annie Woofley. Each brought special insight, wisdom, and perspective to us about the topics of wellness and educator care. We are in their debt for making the book and its fundamental dimensions and routines stronger in its research and in its communication to you.

Special thanks go to superintendent Janel Keating and her faculty and staff in White River School District (Washington state) for their feedback to our rating and reflecting protocols. Similar thanks go to assistant superintendent Jeanne Spiller and her staff in Kildeer Countryside School District (Illinois). Your collective feedback effort has helped us improve our work from the practitioners point of view.

Finally, we want to thank you for taking the time to pick up this book, read and write your way through it, and giving yourself the gift of wellness through your personal self-care and self-compassion. It is trueour profession has its challenging moments and exhausting days. It also has the incredible opportunity to impact the lives of so many. To overcome that exhaustion and experience the joy of that impact requires an intentional examination and a positive daily response to our health and well-being.

May this book, with its four dimensions of wellness, and its twelve routines for improvement, help you live your best life, every day!
