Hi there!
W e welcome you in your new Nature Passion "How to care for your Guinea Pig?", a practical guide, that we hope will help you to easily take care of your guinea pig at home, but also discover many other things. You will learn how to spend a minimum for your pet while feeding it in a healthy and balanced way.
I have always had a passion for animals - rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, dormice, chicken and ducks. When we built our adventure park, I already had in mind to develop a small zoo with rabbits mainly. A real adventure because I had to learn a lot and make extensive research in order to take good care of them! And in no time we also added guinea pigs - very cute animals.
I thought to share with you my experience, because often people who saw guinea pigs in our park were eager to have one at home, but did not know how to handle it. They are so cute we almost forget that we have to take care of them, didn't we ;-) ?
In this guide, I will introduce the basic principles in order that your pet feels good and at the same time you are content to take care of it. I will also give you some tips and advice on food (which will not cost you a lot ;-)...) and housing, but also some basic care necessary for a guinea pig.
Life is full of simple pleasures that can easily turn into pure happiness ;-)...
Depending on the capabilities of your reading device, you can enjoy zoom features in the pictures. Anyway you can use highlighted hyperlinks throughout the eBook. We did our best to make your reading experience as pleasant as possible, despite the great technology differences between different reading devices.

Attention, we update our books permanently. Whether to correct small mistakes that we all make and for which we apologize in advance, but also to add important information such as new restaurants, accommodations or places to visit for our Travel eGuides on our next visits, new recipes or plants for our eGuides Nature or to update technical data for minor changes occurring in all our useful guides. We want to warn you that many platforms DO NOT send you our updates. We tried to explain to them the usefulness of announcing at least the existence of a new version, but without success. So if you want to enjoy the latest version of our ebooks, ask the platform from which you bought them and you will benefit from this feature.
Be sure that we will propose to you more interactive versions, as the formats and eBook readers should be standardized in the future!
Okay, so here we go: guinea pigs are waiting for you ;-) !
Sincerely,
Cristina & Olivier Rebire

Tips to take care of your Guinea Pig
Guinea pigs are very cute, but their wild and fearful nature does not make them easy pets. They are nice, lovely, but to get used to you, you should have patience :-). However, don't worry because it is a pet with a much calmer temperament than chinchillas or rabbits and even more docile.
It is a sociable animal that will depress if left alone too long. In case you cannot offer it a pet-friend (another guinea pig :-)!), you should play this role, talk to it, play with it. Otherwise, your pet will be depressed and apathetic, sleeping all day, fearful remaining in a corner and even refusing to eat sometimes. If you care for it, it will rejoice like crazy when it will hear you coming home!
If you can accommodate two guinea pigs, it is better to take the same sex, otherwise the family will soon grow. The males will be more aggressive if they do not know each other since birth, but it is not a rule because everything depends on individuals. My first two guinea pigs, Doby and Cuzco, did not know each other at all and I acclimated them quite quickly. See section for more details.
MY ADVICE
Guinea pigs are fairly delicate and sensitive animals and therefore it is not advisable to entrust their care to children under 8-10 years old. They do not like being nipped and do not tolerate much loud noises because they get afraid.
