Memorable New Zealand Sights:
On 6 May 2003, we had a late fall. The grapevines were a brilliant red, yellow and gold in the Waipara Valley. People were raving about the colours in Wanaka. Christchurch was a blaze of colour from the red maple trees to the golden leaves falling on the ground in Hagley Park. Some trees were just starting to turn colours and others had already lost their leaves for winter. June was a warm month and winter was predicted as warmer than usual. Then on 4 July the east side of the South Island was hit by a polar blast that covered the mountains and most paddocks with snow. Kaikoura had snow on the beach of the Pacific Ocean for the first time in memory, while Westland baked in sun.

New Zealand welcomes you to its garden of flora and fauna that is found nowhere else in the world. This land is unique because of the past geologic history of drifting continents. You can savor clean, green mountains and beaches that are inspirational.
Many New Zealanders live in harmony with their environment; they have reverence for the sea, forest (bush) and mountains. This is a land where dawn may be greeted with a chorus of songbirds and where the sea welcomes the whales, seals, penguins, and dolphins all year round.
Do enjoy and protect natures paradise as you tour New Zealand. You are a guest in this fine country. Take only your memories, photos, and purchased reminders back to your home.
The Purpose and Scope of this Book
The author of Judder Bars and Chilly Bins in New Zealand brings you four scenic tours. The purpose in presenting these tales and tours is to introduce you to four different areas of the South Island of New Zealand along with the New Zealand people and their lifestyles. Choose any one tour or all four tours for variety, flexibility, and your convenience.
Use this book as a reference for your New Zealand trip or as a good book full of tales to enjoy about a faraway country.
The introduction tells about New Zealand history, geology, explorers, sheepfarms, tales, myths, landmarks and milestones, early inhabitants, and flora and fauna.
