What is Needle Felting?

H ave you ever stared amazingly at needle felting designs and wondered if you could embark on such an enormous project?

Do you want to learn the intricacies of needle felting, but yet, you feel overwhelmed even to get started?

My answer is this:

"Yes, you can learn how needle felting works to create amazing works of art!"

Needle felting is not rocket science; you can learn it with the right learning guide and practice.

That is why I created this book with you in mind, to give you a head start in your quest and give you a step-to-step guide to learn needle felting and craft out awesome designs in no time. It is written in a non-fluffy, straight to the point manner to aid your learning process and set you on the way to creating great felted designs.

So, let's delve into the basics of Needle Felting.

To begin with, Needle Felting is simply the process of turning wool into 3D with the use of a barbed needle. It involves agitating the fibers of wool so that they fuse in a stiff form. If you have ever knitted before, this process is likely familiar. However, a significant difference is that while other felting processes involve using hot water to make the fibers bond, needle felting instead uses a very sharp needle.

Needle felting involves piercing a needle repeatedly inside a piece of loose wool (also called wool roving) to make it stiff and get it into a solid, three-dimensional shape. The needle barbs make the fibers intertwine with one another, making the wool to maintain its shape when finished.

Needle felting sounds simple in concept, but it can be an elaborate process to execute. In the end, you create 3D sculptures from wool.

Most needle felting sculptures are animal-like due to their fuzziness, which is excellent for the wool's fibers' fuzziness. However, you can make anything with needle felting, ranging from people, animals, food, and even imaginary creatures.

Needle felting is not like sewing. It is more like a wool sculpting. Here, you form a shape by adding more wool as you continue until you are cool with the results.
