Acknowledgments

I have an enormous amount of gratitude for the team at Penguin Random House for bringing this book into realityeditorial; design; marketing; production; Alisa Harris, the illustrator; my co-writer L. Ryan Stormsbut especially my editor Kim Suarez. Kim, your positivity and patience throughout this process have been nothing less than saintly. I am forever grateful to you for this opportunity and for your constant support. If anyone told dog-obsessed childhood me that I would be writing a book for other dog-loving children someday, I would have never believed them. Kim, this is a real thing because of you. Forever, thank you.

My team of superstars at Frolic, and our friends at Biscuits & BathI could not have done this without your support. Writing a book and directing after-school programming and summer camps for kids and teens, while caring for dogs, is no easy task. Many thanks to the following people for helping me make Frolic the best place for any dog-loving child: Scott, David, Alexis, Costa, Gabriela, Deannie, JP, Helen.

To my Frolic kids: You inspired everything I wrote. Thank you for being open to trying new things, and for loving dogs as much as I do. You make my heart smile and every dogs tail wag.

There are a multitude of reasons to thank my family, but mainly for always supporting every out-there endeavor I take on. Bless my parents and my siblings for putting up with my love (obsession?) for animals since I was a very young child. No matter how unique my interests, my parents, my siblings, and my nieces and nephews (Gabriel! Anthony! Amanda!) are always cheering me on.

To Jorge, my husband, my best friend, my constant pillar. I can always count on you for unfailing support and encouragement. All of the thank-yous in every language in the world would still not be enough to tell you how grateful I am for you.

And last but not least, to the dogs who have helped me understand empathy and love deeper than humanly possible: Comet, Maya, Noah, Reyna. Youre all the best boys and girls.
