DEDICATION
To my wife Lilliam, for supporting my happiness and my life and career objectives.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
The valuable assistance of the many magazine editors and publishers, and outdoor book reviewers who helped to make my previous books a success, is much appreciated. Such motivation will continue to generate a desire to create additional reading for Americas bass anglers. Thanks go to all the industry lure manufacturers, without whom we wouldnt have such productive choices available today.
I wish to also thank those guides and professional anglers with whom, for the past 25 years, I have shared a boat, their friendship and experiences. Rick Clunn, Larry Nixon, Ken Cook, Tommy Martin, Ron Shearer, Randy Fite, Harold Allen, Randy Dearman, Jack Westberry, Larry Lazoen, Wayne Yohn, Lee Sisson and Dr. Loren Hill all deserve my gratitude for their contribution to the sport.
Just as importantly, my appreciation also goes to the interested bass fishermen everywhere that seek more knowledge about their favorite pastime. That keeps me going.
PREFACE
Lures have been fooling largemouth bass for years, and they always will. They are ever-changing though; they need to be, in order to be successful.
Modifications of lures and development of new baits and techniques continue to keep the fare fresh, and thats important. Bass seem to become accustomed to the same artificials and presentations seen over and over again. As a result, they become harder to catch. Its the new approach that again sparks the interest of some largemouth.
To that end, this book explores some of the latest ideas for modifying, rigging and using bass lures. All are highly productive when utilized in the correct environment and conditions. Many lure modifications and techniques presented within these covers are unique, and angler success with them has tended to motivate additional lure development.
The tricks and techniques outlined in this book should work anywhere in the country. Some were generated in the far West, others have been successful in a tiny locale for years, but the word is spreading fast. Still other productive concepts revealed in this book were developed on highly-vegetated southeast waters. BASS LURESTricks & Techniques will help anglers everywhere to catch more fish.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Writing about bass fishing for more than 16 years, Larry Larsen has studied all aspects of the fish, and the ways to catch them. He has previously published three books Follow The Forage For Better Bass Angling, Shallow Water Bass, and Bass Pro Strategies.
Larsens writings detail highly productive fish catching methods and special techniques. He believes in explaining to readers the latest and very best tactics to find and catch bass anywhere. The basis of utilizing lures with innovative modifications and techniques to catch more and larger bass is presented in this book as an extension of that philosophy.
The author has been a frequent contributor on bass subjects to Outdoor Life, Sports Afield, Fishing Facts, and Field & Stream. More than 700 of Larsens magazine articles have been published in 50 different publications, including credits in Bassin, Bassmaster, Bass Illustrated, U.S. Bass, Petersens Fishing, and other major outdoor magazines.
Larry Larsens photography has appeared on the covers of many national publications. Larsen is a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA), the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association (SEOPA), and the Florida Outdoor Writers Association (FOWA). Larsen has been honored with several regional and national awards over the years for both outdoor writing and photography.
The first chapter in this book is similar in part to an article that won him second place in the 1986 OWAA Crankbait Techniques Writing Contest. Another of Larsens how-to articles on lure techniques captured first place in that same category in the 1987 contest, a feat hell long remember. The magazine article competition is the most popular contest among OWAAs professional outdoor writers and included over 1,000 entries each year.
Larry Larsen, who is a graduate of Wichita State University and Colorado State University, is an accomplished fisherman as well as a successful outdoor writer/photographer. His angling adventures and research on the black bass have been extensive throughout the southern and midwestern states. He has caught and released numerous big bass, over 100 between five and 12 pounds, on artificial lures.
Larsen has literally traveled the globe to fish for bass. He has jigged for bass from lakes near the Canadian border and tossed giant worms into Honduras Lake Yojoa, some 3,500 miles to the south. He has pursued bass with top water buzz baits as far east as Cubas Treasure Lake and taken largemouth on crankbaits from plantation lakes in the Hawaiian Islands some 6,000 miles to the west.
Anglers that apply the information contained within these covers will greatly benefit. The book details productive tricks and tactics that any angler, novice or professional, can apply to catch more bass on artificial lures. Numerous photographs and figures help detail productive lure methods to entice Americas most popular game fish.
