DEDICATION
To my father, Floyd, who has, from the beginning of my life, taught me to be the best that I can. Hell always be a Pro in my mind.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
I wish to acknowledge the contribution of many persons in the development of this book. Firstly, my gratitude goes to wife, Lilliam, for her valuable assistance and editorial eye on this endeavor. Sincere thanks go to all of the professional bass anglers quoted within the covers of the book. I have shared a boat with all but one or two, and they are indeed professionals. Each is a great angler from whom I have learned.
Deserving of my gratitude for their support of my efforts, both magazine and books, are the many magazine editors and publishers, and newspaper columnists. They have truly motivated me in my literary endeavors. My deepest appreciation, though, goes to the interested bass fishermen everywhere that seek to improve their abilities at catching bass.
PREFACE
All anglers strive to become more proficient at their sport. That is easily achieved by some through careful study of outdoor magazines and fishing books, and then, through practice and on-the-water experience. For many, that can take quite a while.
Few anglers can afford to spend huge amounts of time at their hobby. Those that can devote a couple of hundred days each year to their bass fishing interests are usually professional fishermen. Guides, touring tournament anglers, TV fishing show personalities and an occasional outdoor writer have opportunities to devote extended amounts of time to the sport of bass fishing.
The vast majority of anglers must be satisfied with two or three trips per month perhaps. They can, however, learn from the professionalsthose anglers making a living on the water. Pros dont last long in the business unless they can learn from their vast experiences and apply that knowledge to catching more fish the next time out.
They are usually adept at analyzing a body of water and planning a productive day on it. They know how changes in pH and water temperature, color and fluctuation affect bass fishing, and they know how to adapt to weather variations. Most of the more successful pros are structure fishermen who have intimate knowledge of topographical influences to the location of bass. They can find and catch the fish.
BASS PRO STRATEGIES reveals the methods that the countrys most successful tournament anglers have employed to catch bass almost every time out. The readers productivity should improve after spending a few hours with this compilation of techniques!
