Preface
Nikon has made an impressive debut in the high-resolution full-frame mirrorless digital camera arena with the introduction of the Nikon Z7. Veteran users of Nikon digital cameras will find this new, compact model comfortably familiar, but also quite full of exciting enhancements made possible by its from-scratch innovative design. For newcomers to the world of Nikon or the realm of mirrorless digital photography the Z7 can be bewildering with its sheer number of features and options. Even so, you expect more than good pictures from your sophisticated new camera: you demand outstanding photos. After all, the Z7 is one of the most fully featured and versatile cameras currently in the Nikon lineup. It boasts 46 megapixels of resolution, highly accurate sensor-based automatic focus, and 4K video capabilities. But your gateway to pixel proficiency is dragged down by the fat but confusing book included in the box as a manual.
You know everything you need to know is in there, somewhere, but you dont know where to start. In addition, the camera manual doesnt offer much information on photography or digital photography. Nor does it really tell you much about how mirrorless shooting might differ from the kinds of digital photography you are used to. Youre probably not interested in spending hours or days studying a comprehensive book on digital photography that doesnt necessarily apply directly to the enhanced features of your Z7.
What you need is a guide that explains the purpose and function of the Z7s basic controls, lenses, and accessories from the perspective of mirrorless cameras. It should tell you how you should use them, and
