Dear Journaler and new BFF,
Best friends come in all shapes and sizes. They can be short or tall, round or rectangular, but most importantly they all share one thing in common: they are constant.
Best friends are there to: Pick you up when youre down. Push you when you need a nudge. Offer advice that you probably wont take.
Like many people in our lives, best friends come and go, but their influence and the mark they make on our hearts last forever. Best friends unknowingly help shape the individuals we become.
Some people are blessed with many best friends; some with only a few. Regardless, it is the quality of the relationship that matters. The girl who has even one close friend has a treasure that a hundred casual friends cant match.
I love that, as a grown-up girl, I am still in contact with the best friends I had in first grade. Its a blast to get together with them to giggle and laugh and just be silly. This is a stabilizing force in my life that helps keep me young. Best friends are truly forever, whether they live nearby or far away. Even if you fall out of touch for a few years, a friendship formed in girlhood lives in your heart and your memories.
I hope as you share this journal with your best friends that it will help make the memories sweeter and the journey more memorable. Have fun!

Write a letter to yourself describing current events, dreams, whatever is most on your mind.
Place in an envelope and attach to this pagenot to be opened until 10 years from now.
Write one about your BFF using the names of different kinds of candy.
Ask your BFF to write you a letter that you will open on your 18th birthday.

Make your own lip gloss and give each other a facial using the following recipes.
| 2 tablespoons honey |
| 1 medium banana |
| 14 cup plain yogurt |
| 1 cup water |
In a blender, combine all ingredients and blend until well mixed. Smooth onto your face, being careful to avoid the eye area. Leave mask on for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse with slightly warm water and carefully pat dry. Use right away and discard any leftover.

| 1 tablespoon presweetened drink mix* |
Stir shortening and drink mix together in a small microwave-safe container until smooth. Place container in the microwave and heat for 15 seconds. Stir and heat a few seconds more, until mixture turns to liquid. Remove from microwave and whisk with a fork to blend. Let cool 5 minutes. You can also add some cake decorating glitter to pop up the shine! Pour into two small lip gloss containers. Chill in the refrigerator at least 30 minutes until solid. Keeps for 3 days.
*Try using hot cocoa mix!
