For my beloved father, Dr Dilip Doshi,
and my darling mother, Renuka Doshi,
who now live in heaven.

It was not very long ago that life made me go through one of the most painful experiences known to humankindlosing both my parents. I was broken beyond words and struggled to build myself again. But art helped me to do so, piece by piece.

I started The Doodle Desk as a medium for self-expression but was astonished to see the impact it had on others. Soon, it turned into a movement for giving hope to others and became the art of spreading joy. Today, it humbles me to see the love The Doodle Desk receives from people across the world. It is this love that pushes me to go above and beyond in my attempt to spread joy. It is this faith that made me want to venture into new spaces and reach new people while serving my existing virtual family.

Upon contemplation about more ways to spread joy, it occurred to me that the gentle and affectionate touch of a loved one has the power to heal even the deepest wounds. This is why I wanted my art and words to be held by people. I wanted them to touch it, to feel it. I wanted them to find the warmth of a loved one in it. Hence, The Little Book of Good Things!

This little book of mine is now yours. I have shared my thoughts on different areas of life. I hope they add a little sunshine to your gloomy days and a little warmth to the cold ones. I hope that, as you flip through the pages of this book, you will discover a more positive and stronger version of yourself. I hope that you will love yourself a little more and be kinder to yourself and others.

Lastly, I believe some encounters are too magical to be a mere coincidence. I believe they are conspired into existence by the universe. I hope when you reminisce about such encounters, you think of this book too.

With love,
Bhavya Doshi

Open to receiving from the universe!

You cant get any new emails when your inbox is full. To receive an email, it is important that you first delete the emails you no longer need. And once you do that, nothing can stop you from receiving new emails.

Likewise, in order to receive what you want from the universe, you must be open to receiving them. This would first require you to be crystal clear about your desires. You can do so by writing them down, saying them out loud, creating a vision board, or by doing anything and everything that helps you declare your desires.

Once you have declared your desires, ensure that you have made space for them to enter your life, both literally and metaphorically. If it is a soulmate that you want, ensure that you havent shut all the doors for love to enter your life. Be open to new experiences and meeting new people. Be open to giving new people a chance.

This concept applies to other areas of our lives as well. It could be a dream job that you wish to attract or a client that you wish to work for. Everything becomes achievable when you make space for it in your life. And once you do that successfully, visualise achieving them with the purest intentions in your heart. This way you will make your life like an empty mailbox that is ready to receive the blessings from the universe.

You are the author of your story!

We all are authors, continuously writing the stories of our lives. Every day we wake up to write a new chapter and decide how our lifes story will unfold, one chapter at a time. The important thing to remember here is that our story is nothing but a collection of conscious choices that we make. If we consciously choose happiness at every step of our life, then our story will be a happy one. If we fret over the past and over things that we cannot control, our story will not be a happy one.

Live every day as if it will directly have an impact on the story of your life. Be picky about people and things you spend your energy on. Demand happiness and joy from life and be open to receiving it. Leave your past behind and focus just on the present. When you sleep, sleep believing that you are blessed and worthy of doing great things. When you wake up, wake up wanting to make it the best day of your life, no matter what the circumstances are. And before you know it, you will become an award-winning author!

Do what it takes!

We have always been asked to have a Plan B that we can hold on to if and when our original plan fails. It is always safe to have a backup option and maybe people who recommend it to us wish the best for us. But to truly test our determination when it comes to the pursuit of our goals, we should work on our plan as if it is our only option and be willing to give it all that it needs. If it demands hours of research, we should feed it with research. If it requires knowledge, we should be open to absorbing knowledge. If it needs creativity, we should let our creativity run riot. And if it requires love and positivity, we should keep a tab on the energy we radiate.

So, lets do ourselves a favour and take a note the next time you set a goal. Ask yourself that are you really giving it your 100 per cent? If the answer is a no or a maybe, it is a sign that you need to pull your socks up and become more determined... because it is either 100 per cent or nothing!

Everyday is a fresh start!

Life doesnt end the moment you make a mistake or disappoint someone. It doesnt end when you get heartbroken or fail. It goes on and gives us a new chance every day... a new chance to rectify our mistakes, fix our heart, and live life differently.

However, sometimes when things dont work out the way we would want them to, we feel shattered and think of it as the end. We spend so much of our time wishing our life was different that we fail to notice the opportunity we get every single day to bring about this change.

The only method to live life perfectly is the method of trial and error. Dont overcomplicate. Listen to your heart and do what it says without having the fear of making wrong decisions. This is better than making no decisions at all. Dont hesitate from travelling on some wrong paths till you discover the right one.

My dear friend, dont be embarrassed by everything that goes wrong because it will only lead you towards the right. So, let the past remain in the past and lets look forward to a fresh start every day!

Happiness is an inside job!

How are you feeling right now? Are you happy where you are, or do you want to be somewhere else? If your answer is the latter, it is time to shake yourself up a little and change your perspective because chances are that you are looking for happiness in the wrong place.
