At Miraval, I am constantly reminded by guests through direct feedback and on our Guest Satisfaction Surveys that the main reason people return so often is because of our staff. Through our mindful guest-service training, we provide customer care that is thoughtful, personal, and genuine. The atmosphere of compassion and respect is a direct reflection that Miraval staff members love their jobs.
What do I mean by mindfulness? Mindfulness is an elevated awareness of our surroundings and ourselves. Its all about being in the present moment, with a purposeful consciousness of our personal choices, strengths, and potential. Mindfulness is empowerment. Its a heightening of energy that leads to a better, healthier lifea life in balance. This is a cornerstone of the Miraval philosophy, and we emphasize the delicate balance among the many elements that we seek in life: intensity and relaxation, action and stillness, exploring the world around us and our own inner selves. We seek and need both ends of the spectrum, but only when they are in balance will our lives be in harmony.
An important aspect of that balance is applying mindfulness to what and even how we eat. If spa cuisine is the art of simplifying our foodsusing natural, low-fat ingredients with an emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteinsthen mindful eating takes the approach a step further. It reacquaints us with hunger rather than allowing us to feed our emotions. The guiding principle of mindful eating is choice.
In the Miraval kitchens, our chefs bring mindfulness to the table, from the fresh, locally sourced ingredients they use to the way in which each dish is prepared. Creating award-winning food that is both healthy and flavorful, the culinary team is also keenly aware of maintaining just the right balance between sweet and savory.
