About the Authors
Pat Hahn is a motorcycle rider with over 20 years of experience and the author of Ride Hard, Ride Smart and How to Ride a Motorcycle. For 12 years he has been an MSF-certified instructor/rider coach for the state of Minnesota teaching basic and experienced rider courses. Since 1999, Pat has managed public relations for the Minnesota Motorcycle Safety Center, an award-winning program known nationwide for its informational and educational campaigns. He also works as a consultant for other states and has conducted technical assessments of motorcycle safety programs in Colorado, Ohio, Florida, and California.
With volunteer help from the Central Roadracing Association, Pat also conducts advanced cornering and safety seminars for Minnesota sportbike enthusiasts (www.hedonistic-enthusiasm.com). He is a freelance editor and writer, contributing to Evans Brasfields 101 Sportbike Performance Projects and Kent Larsons Track Day Handbook, as well as writing numerous articles for Minnesota Motorcycle Monthly and other enthusiast publications. Pat uses his bike (currently a Honda VFR800FI) to commute to work, run errands, entertain friends, burn off steam on twisty roads on the weekends, and take long trips. He lives with his wife and two-year-old son in south Minneapolis.
Steve Guderian is a retired motorcycle police officer, court-recognized expert in collision reconstruction, and crash investigator who now works as a government motorcycle safety expert. Additionally, Steve is involved with numerous publications as a contributing writer, as well as being a member of many associations that further motorcycle safety awareness.
Steve has always had a passion for motorcycles and has ridden a wide variety of bikes, rain or shine, for more than 34 years. Steve has a degree in physics with a minor in mathematics. He resides with his wife of 33 years in northern California, and together they have three adult daughters and three granddaughters. Steve most enjoys riding side-by-side with his wife on weekends, vacations, or whenever the opportunity arises.
