Back in 2012 when I published the first edition of Discover the Magic, (and my first book ever) I had no idea how much enjoyment and success Id have as an author. I remember discussing the idea to write a book with my wife. She was hesitant and said, Who is going to read it? My thought process was similar to a line from the Field of Dreams movie: If you write it, they will read. I was optimistic that somebody would be interested in what I had to say and hopeful that my passion for, and knowledge of Walt Disney World would be useful to readers considering a Disney vacation.

Now, going on three years, three additional titles, tens of thousands of copies later, here I am. Back where it all started with the 2 nd edition of Discover the Magic. Im thrilled with the fact that thousands of readers like you, with a desire to learn more about the magical experience of a vacation to Walt Disney World, will take the time and spend their hard-earned dollars to buy or borrow this book. Ill do my best to give you your moneys worth!

In this expanded and updated version of Discover the Magic, all new for 2015, youll get even more magic than ever before. In fact, updates that started off as a minor refresh have evolved into a major rewrite. I had originally intended this 2 nd edition to be an update of everything that has changed at Disney since the first edition was released in May of 2012. That in itself would have been an extensive facelift. However, as I began writing, I realized there was so much more to say and so much more to cover than I did with the original. The original version was about 15,000 words and this edition is about double that- right around 30,000 words. While this has delayed publication by several weeks, you the reader will reap the benefits!

Im adding expanded coverage of all the parks and attractions, and updating the original edition with all the latest developments and changes at Walt Disney World. Disney World is always changing and expanding, and this book will fill you in on whats new- and whats coming! Youll find details on the newest attractions like those in the New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom, and Ill update you on the expansions planned at Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom too.

Ill also provide everything youll need to know to make the most of Disneys most recent customer service innovation- the new FastPass+ reservation system. In the hotels section, youll find expanded coverage of the various Disney resorts, and a look at additional offsite hotels, condos, and other resorts to enjoy if you choose to stay off property. Unlike some of the other Disney travel authors out there, Im not going to tell you that you MUST stay at a Disney resort on Disney property. Ill provide an overview of the options and discuss the pros and cons of each so YOU can make the decision thats right for YOU!

In addition to the many changes Ive mentioned above, Ive also refreshed many of the photos in the original book, and added tons of new ones too. In fact, this edition now has over 150 full-color photos, graphs and charts. Compare this to what youll find in many other Disney travel guides, many of which have no images at all, and I think youll agree the pictures really do help tell the story. After all, what good would a Disney travel guide be without lots of pretty pictures?
