Tell Me Your Disneyland Secret
Do you or someone you know have an interesting backstory about a park secret? Perhaps you know the meaning of a hidden element within an attraction at Disneyland or Walt Disney World. Maybe you know someone who designed or built an attraction and they told you a fun secret about it, or maybe youve got a great story, photo, item, or autograph involving Walt Disney himself.
If you have some kind of interesting backstory about a Disneyland secret, which can be confirmed, and which you think guests would love to hear about in a future edition of this book, then Id love to hear from you.

Introduction
Disneyland is a grand stage upon which a story of magic, fantasy, and enchantment plays out for guests from around the world each and every day. Cast Members perform, attractions entertain, parades delight, and fireworks bedazzle as guests young and old watch with wide-eyed wonder and amazement as the story unfolds all around them. But unknown to many, separate and often whimsical stories play out right alongside the main act, and these stories make up the magical secrets of Disneyland.
With your first visits to Disneyland, its all about the attractionsas it should be. There are pirate ships to sail, spaceships to ride, characters to meet, and a dark haunted mansion to explore. Unfortunately, many guests believe that once they are finished with the attractions, they are finished with Disneyland, but in reality, theyve just begun to experience the magic.
Disney Imagineers have filled nearly every facet of the park with creative story elements designed to immerse guests in a fun, whimsical, and secretive side of Disneyland. That old park bench? Thats where Walt Disney sat when he first thought of Disneyland. The grand Mark Twain Riverboat? You can actually pilot it yourself on the Rivers of America. That lamp in the window above the Disneyland Fire Station? Thats in Walts very own private apartment, where he used to stay when he was in the park.
I wrote The Imagineers Secrets of Disneyland to share the fun, secretive side of Disneyland and to reveal an all-new way for guests to experience the magic beyond the attractions.
Explore and enjoy the magical secrets of Disneyland!

Disneyland Secrets
Disneyland is a world of magic, wonder, and adventure. Unknown to many, it is also a world filled with secrets and surprises. Some are easy to discover, while others are hidden or easily overlooked, but together they add an exciting new element to the magical story that is Disneyland.
From how to get exclusive V.I.P. rides on the Disneyland Railroad and where to discover a secret cemetery at the Haunted Mansion, to the basketball court inside the Matterhorn and how to pilot the Mark Twain Riverboat, the following pages take you on a tour and reveal the secrets which will allow you to see and experience Disneyland in an all-new way.
Lets begin with some fun-to-know secrets before moving on to the secrets of each land
Ride in the Front of the Monorail
Want to sit in the very front of the Monorail as it makes its way through Disneyland to the Tomorrowland station, or from Tomorrowland to the Downtown Disney station? You are more than welcome to do so. Simply approach a Cast Member at the boarding station of your choice and inform them that youd like to sit in the pilots cabin (which can accommodate up to four guests). Youll be boarded at the first available opportunity, which is usually the first or second Monorail to arrive. Its a unique way for the entire family to see Disneyland.
Free Replacement
Many guests know that if they lose or pop a balloon while at Disneyland, they need only ask a balloon vendor for a replacement, and they will receive a new one free of charge.
However, few guests know that if they break a souvenir, such as a sword or a ceramic mug, they may also receive a free replacement, provided they still have their original receipt. In addition, guests who purchase a souvenir at one shop, but decide theyd much rather have a different souvenir while browsing at another shop, may show their receipt, pay any price difference, and exchange the souvenir. To make things easier, the guest may leave their old souvenir at the location where they purchase the new item.

A Pop Secret
So much of Disneyland occurs in the smallest of details, which are so easily overlooked. In fact, millions of guests walk right past this fun secret every year and never notice it. As you make your way into Disneyland, stop at the first popcorn cart you see, which will be near the park entrance in the Town Square, and take note of the small character turning the popcorn inside. All of the popcorn carts within Disneyland have their own unique character turning the crank, and the character coincides with the land in which the cart is placed. Find the cart near the Matterhorn, and you just may spot the Abominable Snowman!
