Keeping It Positive
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think about such things.
Philippians 4:8 NIV
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy.
Psalm 103:2-4 ESV
Our thoughts can have such an effect on our lives but we seem to have so little control over them. God wants us to focus on the things that are pure, noble, true, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. Psalm 103:2-4 reminds us to forget not all His benefits.
When we have negative thoughts it creates a toxic atmosphere in our bodies. We can actually make ourselves physically ill or bring on depression. Even worse, we can pass our negativity on to others. Being positive is a decision that we have to make. We can choose what to focus on and what to filter out.
Today if a negative thought crosses your mind immediately replace it with a positive one. Dont let the negative thought have any time at all to take root. Right now, think of several positive situations in your life so that you will be ready with your substitutions. Focus on God and His promises. You cant get any more positive than that!
According to Your Gifts
Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching;
Romans 12:6-7 ESV
You have a very special talent. No, really, you do. It is a talent that God specifically gave just to you. Maybe your talent is an artistic one like the ability to paint or sing or dance. Maybe it is the ability to organize, problem-solve or get along well with others. Whatever it is, the Bible says that God wants you to use it.
Today, write down all of the things that you do well. No negativity allowed! If you cant come up with anything (surely you can come up with something) , ask a friend or family member. They will give you a whole list of good stuff! Now look at this list and think about each item; how can you use this to improve your life, the lives of others, and to serve God. Take a moment to thank Him for these talents and to dedicate them to His service. Now go out there and share your gift with the world!
