Introduction

For many of us, Sunday lunch is the most important meal of the week as we get to catch up with friends and family over a lovingly prepared meal. Whether youre cooking for 2 or 10, its a nice opportunity to push the boat out and make something special.

As well as classic, guaranteed crowd pleasers, delicious dishes for veggies and recipes to impress your guests, weve included lots of lovely sides in each chapter, so you can mix and match for the best flavour combinations.

If you want to make a Sunday lunch with a difference weve included a chapter jam-packed with ideas for spicing up your roast, be it with warming Indian spices, or in a Chinese braised beef pie. Plus there are some inspiring ideas for sides with a twist.

While feeding a crowd is enjoyable, large joints of meat can be very expensive, so weve also included a chapter for cooking on a budget. And although weve managed to stretch the meat a little further with clever dishes like our sausage and stuffing toad-in-the-hole, these dishes are often the tastiest and will guarantee clean plates all round!

Sunday lunch wouldnt be complete without a comforting bowl of homemade pudding. In our desserts chapter youll find something sweet for any Sunday lunch occasion just add lashings of hot custard!

As always, all of the recipes in this book have been triple-tested in the Good Food kitchen, so you can rest safe in the knowledge that they will work first time, and every time, in your kitchen too.

Good Food is concerned about sustainable sourcing and animal welfare. Where possible humanely reared meats, sustainably caught fish (see fishonline.org for further information from the Marine Conservation Society) and free-range chickens and eggs are used when recipes are originally tested.
