STEP BY STEP, progress and innovation are happening, and the rate at which they are happening is accelerating. The dramatic increase in our ability to communicate with each other has led to a transformation in knowledgewhat has been experienced can be shared so rapidly now.
Two hundred years ago, the concept of changing ones diet, in the way that is possible today, did not exist, and there were only a few limited ways to communicate dietary experiences. PREFACE
I WAS ONCE VERY UNHEALTHY pre-diabetic, overweight and suffering from mental illness in the form of depression and anxiety attacks. However, I was able to regain control over my own health after I discovered the power of food. This discovery allowed me to begin living my life from a place of pure happiness. It was food that helped me begin to understand my ability to heal myself.
I wrote The Power of Food to share with you everything I discovered along my 10-year journey to living with abundant health. Along the way, I adopted a style of eating that places no restrictions on your diet or lifestyle yet has proven results. I share this discovery and the system I used, to make it easier for you to experience the long-term results you desire.
The Power of Food takes you through several years of my life and describes the 12 action steps I implemented to begin living each day full of energy and loving my life. The story begins with my childhood and spans 40 years to the present. At the age of 28 I began to discover a way of life that helped me to reverse my pre-diabetic state, remove my daily need for high-cholesterol medication, quit a 13-year smoking habit, eliminate my severe food allergies and reduce the impact of depression and anxiety on my life. Throughout The Power of Food you will find tips, secrets, tools and resources that will help you to create a healthier lifestyle.
In hundreds of public and private events as a professional speaker, I have had many requests to share more of my story. I wrote The Power of Food for you, and I look forward to being a part of your success.

INTRODUCTION
DID YOU WAKE UP THIS MORNING feeling a little tired? Would you like to wake up tomorrow morning ready to attack your day like a lion, full of strength and energy? These are the two questions I pose to audience members during my Power of Food live events. The most common answers I hear are yes and yes. Many audience members share personal stories about their health struggles and desire for more energy. I know how each of them feels, for I once suffered in much the same way. As you will learn through The Power of Food, food is your lifeline to waking up each morning with supercharged energy.
How is it that something as simple as eating can cause so many people frustration and stress? The problem lies in choosing the right types of food for healthier eating. We all have to eat to survive, but we dont always make the best food choices. Over the past 50 years many North Americans have taken the enjoyment of processed foods to new heights. So its no surprise that when we take a good look at those around us, we see a lot of overworked, overstressed and overweight friends, family members, neighbours, co-workers and children.
