I am proudly dedicating the Dictionary of Colors and Colored Words to my great and amazing mother Marlene Patricia Yvonne Isaacs who transitioned from Earth in January of 2020.

This incredible woman, a mother of two boys, laid an early and solid educational foundation upon which this dictionary has been built. For it was she who sent me to the best schools, it was she who made sure that my homework was always done and that my grades were where they needed to be, it was she who made sure that I spoke properly even when at home, and lastly and probably most importantly, it was she, a single mother of two, who made sure that I had everything that I needed at every stage of my youth and beyond to enable me to become prepared for overcoming some of lifes many obstacles. I am truly humbled and grateful, especially when I recognize that because of her efforts and great sacrifices her son has been able to compile the worlds only true Dictionary of Colors and Colored Words.

Mummy, we did it and it was only possible because of you and the incredible sacrifices that you made and the unfailing love and storge that you have provided for me for every second of my entire life up until your passing. I truly wish you were here to absorb and take all the credit that you so rightfully deserve. I LOVE YOU and I MISS YOU so much more than words could ever describe.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the following individuals, for without you this project might never have seen the light of day. These individuals, who in their own unique ways, have provided some significant degree of love, friendship, assistance or support that has helped to sustain me as I worked diligently on my word collection, The Logophiles Collection, which ultimately evolved, deviated, and calved into the Dictionary of Colors and Colored Words.

Second to none is my late and great mother Marlene Yvonne Patricia Isaacs, matriarch extraordinaire and human being of the first water, thank you mummy as this dictionary has become a reality only because of you. I would also like to thank my three daughters, Hadiya, Alexandria, and Amelia who have offered nothing but kind and loving words of encouragement and support for their old man, I love all three of you with all my heart.

Let me now say a big thank you to the folks over at Gatekeeper Press, including president Rob Price who intervened very early in the process to help sway my decision to work with Gatekeeper Press, and to my amazing author manager Nicole Dudley who has patiently, graciously, and professionally been there with and for me every step of the way from day one, and to the formatters and designers who helped to refine the full cover layout and the interior layout of this book, thank you.

Next, I would like to thank Sophia Peters, Marcia Lewis, Julia Brown, Gillian Hayles, Vivian Pringle, Daniel Kerr, Barbara Drummond, Donna Wilson, Denise James, Hillary Duncombe, Nigel Reid and Bridget Daley for being who you are and for all that you have done to help me. Also, I must acknowledge and thank the many other nameless individuals who, over time, have been kind, supportive, and thoughtful in offering encouragement and good wishes.

To all of you, a big thank you for without your involvement in my life this project might never have come to fruition.

Welcome to the Dictionary of Colors and Colored Words!

This colorific repository houses one of, if not the greatest collection of lexically verifiable colors and colored words that has ever been created in or for the English language. Organized and presented in traditional abecedarian format, this comprehensive color dictionary is the ultimate reference guide for colors and words that pertain to color.

Color undoubtedly plays a huge role in our lives and this indispensable resource can and should serve as a great reference, verification, and educational tool. A vast majority of the entries are assigned their own unique hexadecimal code (hex code) which is a six-digit alphanumeric code which digitally reproduces that specific color, shade, or hue precisely or exactly, as no two different colors can share the same hex code. Over 400 pages strong, this dictionary boasts more than 500 individual hexadecimal coded color entries.

It must be noted here that this dictionary was initially designed to define and present all the color entries in their actual colors. However, due to technological limitations that currently exist in e-book file conversions from manuscript to interior layout, there were many instances where certain colors could not be reproduced credibly due to deviations in hue or shade that occurred when the manuscript was converted. As such, I disappointingly had to make the decision to publish this dictionary in black and white and not in color to maintain the credibility of the work.

Nonetheless, much thought and consideration has been given as to exactly how the entries are organized and presented, and as such many entries provide parenthesized guidance as to what area, field, or discipline they are primarily used in. Also, certain entries are assigned multiple and differing hex codes which essentially means there are variations in the color, shade, or hue of those specific entries.

Included with this dictionary are three bonus sections: Nouns Only, Adjectives Only, and Verbs Only. In each of these bonus sections you will find a congregation of only those specific parts of speech as listed in the main dictionary.

With the Dictionary of Colors and Colored Words exploring and maneuvering within and around the world of color is now streamlined and simplified, and I truly hope that you will, in time, come to appreciate, enjoy, and perhaps even cherish this unique work. I am also hopeful that this dictionary will indefinitely serve as a reliable and trusted lexical partner and a great color resource for the benefit of humanity. And in closing, let me say that I believe that those individuals who have access to and can leverage this great resource will always have an advantage by having unfettered access to all the lexically verifiable colors and colored words that exist in the English language.
