Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 has plenty of things to do that the original did not have. You can roam around the backyard, defend as zombies, level up easier, do plenty of quests, and more. Anyone new to the series, and veteran players will want to know the basics of the game before getting started. Im here to do just that and guide you on your way to total garden warfare.

This guide will go over everything you need to get started in Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 including:

- Getting Started: Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 is a game where, you guessed it, plants fight zombies. If you are expecting the gameplay from the apps, you are in for quite a surprise.

- Characters: The Garden Warfare series plays like a 3rd-person shooter and you control one plant or zombie at a time. Each character has their own play style, main weapon, and abilities.
You can move around, shoot your primary weapon, jump, and use 3 different abilities. These abilities have cool-down times where you have to wait between each use. You can also interact with things like arming bombs, raising flags, and more.

I also absolutely loved the sequel and spent many, many hours playing this game when it first came out, and then even longer to go back and mop up the DLC.
This is the PvZ take on the classic class-based character shooter games. If you played the first title, youll find everything quite similar, but with noticeable upgrades and character changes. For one, leveling up is easier and you now have the Backyard Battleground as a base to load into games, ops and play the story

This guide will teach you how to maximize your potential in two ways. First, youll learn about three strategies for earning coins and buying the sticker packs worth your investment. Then well teach you about picking classes. That section details the strengths, weaknesses and best strategies for each of the titular Plants and Zombies.

So take a look at this book and see what interests you!

Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 has changed drastically since the original Garden Warfare. The following Tips and Tricks will help you level up quickly and become familiar with the new format.

The central hub of the game is no longer a series of menus. You now must interact with objects on either the Plants or Zombies side of the backyard. If you want to go and slay some AI Plants or Zombies, simply exit your base and walk around town.
Remember, all game modes can now be played solo, split-screen, or online. If you play solo or split-screen, you can play with and against AI Plants and Zombies. To enable split-screen, interact with the two TVs that are stacked on top of each other.

To start a Multiplayer game, interact with the Multiplayer Portal. Select which game mode you wish to play and if you're playing solo or online. You can also create your own private matches with custom rules such as low health, infinite ammo, and increased speed.
To start a Garden Ops or Graveyard Ops game, interact with the big vehicles in the Plants or Zombies base. Plants play Garden Ops and Zombies play Graveyard Ops. This is the co-op defense game mode.

To switch quickly between Team Plants or Team Zombies, simply interact with the small stand on the left side (when looking out to the center of town) of each base that says Join Us.

Beneath the middle of the Backyard Battleground is a sewer system. A fish can be found in here that will turn your stars into 750 XP. You can also find the crazy target range behind the large door.

Characters and Classes

Plants and Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 features seven different Plants and Zombies characters (fourteen total), each of which specializes in one combat role or another. Use their abilities and play as a team to completely outclass your opponents.
To switch characters, change appearance, and change abilities, interact with the large dressing room at each base.
Some of the characters have been altered since the first game. See the table below for a quick description of each character, and click on each character's page for more detailed information and gameplay tips.

Plants Role

Peashooter Peashooter is the assault class of Team Plants. Their fully automatic weapons, explosive chili bean, and hyper mode makes them the perfect character to use when on the front lines, eliminating as many Zombies as possible.
Chomper Chomper is the close range, melee class of Team Plants. Use their abilities to disable enemies and get in close to deal massive damage. Their bite is their only weapon, but it's a very powerful weapon that can result in an instant kill.
Sunflower Sunflower is the medic of Team Plants. They have various healing abilities to heal all friendly characters and spawnable plants. Don't take them lightly, their primary weapon and sunbeam ability can do some major damage.
Cactus Cactus is the long range, sniper class of Team Plants. Their primary weapon is incredibly accurate, but it doesn't have the best rate of fire. Their abilities can be used as defensive measures at an objective or to protect the player when sniping.
Citron Citron is the tank class of Team Plants. They have incredibly high HP and various defensive abilities.

Rose Rose is the mage class of Team Plants. They have various magical abilities that can stop zombies in their tracks, turn them to Goats, and even make Roses immune for a short time while dealing damage.
Kernel Corn Kernel Corn is the heavy assault class of Team Plants. They have full-auto weapons that deal massive damage at any range, and their explosive abilities can clear groups of Zombies with ease.

Zombies Role

Foot Soldier Foot Soldier is the assault class of Team Zombies. Their fully automatic weapon, ZPG, and Stink Cloud makes them the perfect character to use when taking an objective. Their Rocket Jump ability allows them to fly to areas no other characters can reach.

Engineer Engineer is the, well, engineer class of Team Zombies. Their role is to fix Teleporters and Turrets in Gardens & Graveyards, and they are incredibly useful in that aspect. When it comes to Plants vs Zombies, they serve as a decent assault class, and their abilities offer the best counter to the Chomper.
Scientist Scientist is the close range medic of Team Zombies. Their primary weapon is best used up close, and their warp ability allows them to instantly teleport a short distance forward. They can deploy heal stations to replenish the health of all Zombie characters and spawnable Zombies.

All-Star All-Star is the tank class of Team Zombies. They have an incredible amount of health, a damaging tackle ability, and a fully automatic Football Cannon as their primary weapon. If ever in trouble, they can deploy a shield to protect themselves or fellow Zombies.
Imp and Z-Mech Imp is the weak assault class of Team Zombies. They are very weak, but very fast. Why would you choose such a weak character? One of their abilities calls in an incredibly power Z-Mech, armed with missiles, a stomp ability, and high defenses.
Super Brainz Super Brainz is the melee class of Team Zombies. They have high HP and physical attacks and abilities. Only one of their abilities is an explosive attack that can be used long range.

Captain Deadbeard Captain Deadbeard is probably the best mix of classes for Team Zombies. Their primary weapon can be used as a shotgun close range or a sniper at long range. Their abilities include a turret for medium to long range, a parrot pal to target characters from afar, and an explosive barrel for close range explosions.

Character Variations

Each of the fourteen characters have additional variations. These variations often share the same abilities, but the health and primary weapons might be different.
Character variations are unlocked through Sticker Packs at the Sticker Shop. Five stickers are needed to unlock a Rare or Super Rare character, and two stickers are needed to unlock a Legendary character. The Phenomenal Character Pack for 75,000 coins is the only pack that guarantees all five stickers for a character variation.
Unlike the original Garden Warfare, each character variation earns its own experience points and ranks up independently in Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2.
If you've played Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare on any system and connected to an Origin account, you can import most of the character variants from the previous game to the new game. The only exception being the four promotional characters: Berry Shooter, Citrus Cactus, Chester Chomper and Dr. Chester.

Character Upgrades

Each character can unlock and use three of twenty-four upgrades. These upgrades are unlocked by leveling up a character. Click the customize option (X on Xbox One, Square on PS4) when choosing a character to find the character upgrades section. There are a total of eight upgrades that can be unlocked throughout 50 levels (10 levels plus five promotions, the fifth not allowing you to level up anymore). These upgrades must then be assigned to one of three slots. Only one upgrade can be chosen per slot -- no duplicates. Below is a list of known upgrades. It is still a work in progress!
