Father, in Jesus Name, show us Your purpose!
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28 ESV
A lbert Einstein once said, There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. I know for a fact that my Savior has performed miracle after miracle in my life. I once read that, Everyone wants a miracle. But heres the catch: no one wants to be in a situation that necessitates one! Mark Batterson The Grave Robber.
You might think the title Precious Moments in Hell is unusual. For years family and friends told me I should write a book. Yet, unless Jesus prompts me, its in vain. After many years I finally asked, Lord if you want me to write a book, tell me, please. Amen. The following morning I heard the words Precious Moments in Hell. When I heard those words, I knew I had a title for all my life stories.
Precious Moments in Hell is not a title condoned by pastors or Christian folk because there is truth in what they say, There are no precious moments in hell and damnation. Like my son says today, True that. However, in my life here on earth I have experienced moments and years of what many people refer to as hell on earth, yet here I am with precious moments to tell.
What is this story?
It is Gods story in my life, beginning with my childhood. Its about some of my valleys of hell on earth and the precious moments that God provided even in those valleys which prepared me for such a time as this.
By the time I was three I had two little brothers. The three of us survived an alcoholic mother who was a prostitute, a father who threw us away, and an abusive foster care environment where we were beaten daily. I also survived a mother murdered, a daughter abducted, and a stint as a homeless person because of a heroin addict who emptied out my bank account. God was with me through it all. God walked me through those many emotionally traumatic events in my life and I can honestly say that He is the Great Healer!
At an early age, I knew I was different. When we were just two, three, and four, my brothers and I were locked in a closet for days on endGod met us there. He did not forsake us. He had a plan and a purpose.
When I was seven, an angel dressed as a nun spoke words that I would cling to for the rest of my life. That angel told me who my Father iswhat a life-saving bit of knowledge for a foster child to know she has been adopted by a King!
God gifted me with visions and dreams and has led me on amazing adventures, showing off like only God can do. He even wrote a Bible verse in the clouds. Another vision led me to the graphic artist who years later would design an initial cover for my book Precious Moments in Hell. The vision was a warning about some kind of shooting and it literally saved his life. Multiple times the dreams or visions God would give me intertwined my life with someone who God then later used for his purposes. Only God is able to coordinate the details in advance! Just like He arranged for Jesus, the Bread of Life, to be born in a town with the name of Bethlehem, which means House of Bread. He knows the beginning from the end and He works all things for good for those who are called according to his purpose.
God has moved me into various professions: truck driver, correctional officer, hospital security officer, arc welder, realtor, pastor, and others. In each season, He always had a purpose. Time and again He would lead me into the life of someone in need of prayer for a miracle. And God was faithfulHe provided those miracles! One of many miracles in my life was the miraculous provisions to learn about Jesus even at the hands of an abusive foster care mom, and then the more miraculous work of taking my raging hatredat one point I intended to kill this foster care momand changing it to actual love for this same woman. God can and does change heartsthat is a miracle indeed!
