EARLY REVIEWS
As usual, you've taken us on a compellingjourney and I truly enjoyed my time reading this. Written historyrarely takes us to the spark of artistic invention Thankfully, onesuch journey to the source of artistic genius is at hand. Whatsnew in Peter Jennings book "Until I Smile at You" are the peoplehes found to take us to the heart of such geniusthe Sinatras,(Nancy and Frank Jr.), Ruths sister and son, Dorsey and scores ofother witnesses to the story. Its as if Jennings has convened adinner party in Ruths honour and everybody shows up to offer atake on a landmark Great American Songbook tune. I mean, even TimRice, Bernie Taupin, David Clayton-Thomas, and Chuck Granata attendto ensure that Ruths song, Franks rendition, and their genius aregiven their due. While its art born in tragedy, its also a storythat delivers triumph.

It is soCanadian that someone as advanced, influential, and gifted as Ruthflies under our radar. If she had been a hockey player performingat this level, she would be a national hero. If this tome doesntraise her visibility nothing will. It is a captivatingread.

And this frommusician/writer Jack Hutton (who played piano when Tom Sandler sangI'll Never Smile Again" to a standing ovation crowd):
Hi Tommy:
I am so #$%^ proud of what you are doingto promote your mother's memory and the song that Tommy Dorseyrecorded with a skinny Italian-American kid whose last name endedwith a vowel. I'm looking forward to reading all about it andhelping to promote it through our media up here. Please keep meposted all the way.

Im too youngto remember when Ruth Lowe wrote Ill Never Smile AgainI wasborn two months after my dad recorded it in 1940, with Tommy Dorseyand the Pied Pipers. But I do have warm memories of him performingthe song and how much he adored it. It became a touchstone for me,as Ive always associated it with those wonderful early years whenmom and dad were first married, and he was a young crooner startingout on his magnificent journey.
