In a lightning strike my computer was destroyed and with it apparently half this book requiring hours of skilled effort way beyond my capabilities to recover the hard drive. On this, and several other demanding occasions, Barries warning, May God blast anyone who writes a biography of me, came to mind. Without the patience, goodwill and humour shown me by those involved in the books making, I might have admitted superstition and abandoned the task.
