M y name is Gina. And I will admit I am hooked on celebrity gossip. Many feel it sounds better to call it Entertainment News. But it's celebrity gossip. I'm always checking out shows like Entertainment Tonight, The Insider, Access Hollywood, The E Channel, and yes TMZ. Then there's all the websites like Media Takeout, Eonline, etc.

H owever when that celebrity gossip gets verified... confirmed... and proven to be true... then it makes the leap to The Evening News, CNN, The Today Show, Good Morning America, etc. It becomes a very big Celebrity Story. It becomes a Hollywood Scandal.

M y friends and I were recently talking. And, I don't know how or why, but the subject of Winona Ryder getting caught shoplifting came up. We started arguing about what year it happened. I could not believe that it was back in 2001. I just could not believe it had been that long ago. Many feel her career has just never really truly recovered from that. At the time, that story was everywhere. And then especially when you consider, obviously, what else happened that very same year.

T hat got me to thinking , what other stories happened that year we may have forgotten about because compared to 9/11 they just didn't really seem important at all. So, it took a bit of research, but I found what was considered to be the top celebrity news of 2001.

I was a little surprise to find that besides Winona Ryder there were really only 3 or 4 others that that were really big that year. So naturally I was curious about the year before, or the year after, etc. And that became the inspiration for this book.

W e all know there has always been a fascination with Hollywood as far back as the days of silent movies, to the Humphrey Bogart's, Marilyn Monroe's, Cary Grant, etc. up to right now with the George Clooney's, Angelina Jolie's, the death of Robin Williams, etc. in today's Hollywood.

B ut I chose the years of 2000 through 2010 because of the significance of a new decade, the brand new century which is once every 100 years, and the new millennium which happens once every 1000 years. Plus this really wasn't all that long ago. And some of the celebrities were are fascinated today, also made the list back then.

Y eah, I know at the end of the day it still may just be celebrity gossip. But I also know that a lot of people are going to really like this compilation of those celebrity stories they will remember.

T his book includes the celebrity biographies. Please keep in mind that the bio is not going to include anything they did after the book was created.

Angelina Jolie And Her Brother

T his was everywhere . Angelina Jolie stars in the coming-of-age mental hospital drama "Girl Interrupted". And although costar Winona Ryder is the film's lead, and the movie also had big names like Whoopie Goldberg, it is Jolie who shines as the sociopath Lisa. The New York Times says, "Ms. Jolie's ferocious, white-hot performance captures the scary allure of this daredevil and brutal truth teller."

Well she actually won an Academy Award for that performance. But, her behavior at that ceremony turned out to be more memorable than the fact that she won an Oscar.

After winning a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her role in "Girl Interrupted", Jolie shocks fans by kissing her brother James Haven full on the lips.

Jolie shared a passionate, and extremely long, kiss with her own brother James Haven Voight. The notorious deed made many people believe Jolie and Voight were engaged in an incestuous affair. Angelinas own words regarding the kiss didnt exactly help her. Saying in her acceptance speech she is "so in love" with him.

When the media begins to wonder about their relationship, Jolie tells Jay Leno that the incest jokes were "pathetic." Nevertheless, the awkward moment didnt stop her from becoming one of Hollywoods most successful actresses and claiming the title Most Beautiful Woman Alive.

Later in this same year she checks herself in to a UCLA Hospital for 3 days for what she herself calls a nervous breakdown. Some months after that she marries Billy Bob Thornton. She has his name tattooed on her and begins wearing a little vile of his blood in a chain around her neck.

My Rant: I remember this was a big story and she had some really bizarre behavior even before, and after, that! She really was like this strange, dark, brooding, gothic girl. And it is absolutely amazing how she has put all of that behind her. Now she's just "The bitch who stole Brad Pitt from Jennifer Annistion" (something they both consistently have denied). And she really doesn't get nearly enough credit for all the humanitarian work that she does. She definitely has an exotic look going on... but the most beautiful woman alive? That is all hype. She could use a few more pounds on her.
