Hosting the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in 2019, JoJo Siwa owned the stage with confidence. She danced; bantered with her cohost, DJ Khaled; and led the crowd in cheers and chants. But when the award for Favorite Social Music Star was announced, she looked genuinely surprised. Happily accepting her blimp award, she raised her microphone.

She wanted to use her speech to make an important point. She wanted her fans to know that she understood bullying. She also knew how to stand up against it.

We are all human, we are all different, she said. Were allowed to look like we want to look, were allowed to do what we want to do because you are the number one you.

The crowd clapped and cheered. JoJo wanted to be the role model her young fans needed. She wanted to show them how to be happy, positive, and confident in themselves.

JoJo brought her signature sense of humor to her hosting gig.
