I know that the seemingly impossible in life is, in fact, very possible. Ive had miracle upon miracle happen for me personally, and have observed them showing up for others many times.

I was introduced to Dana Liesegang on a cruise to Australia a few years ago. My daughter Serena and I met her in the gym, and then Serena saw Dana later on, dancing and really enjoying herself. My daughter was struck by the fact that Dana was in a wheelchair and seemed to be having such a great time. She invited Dana to have dinner with us, and thus began a beautiful friendship between us. I learned all about what had happened to put Dana in that wheelchair, as well as the journey of self-improvement that had led her first to my books and then to seeing me in person. As you will read in these pages, it is an absolutely phenomenal, amazing story of courage and survival and sheer determination.

Although doctors had given her no chance for a life beyond that of a wheelchair-bound quadriplegic, Dana gave herself the goal of walking again. She set the intention, and repeated the affirmation: I am walking. She worked incredibly hard on her physical training, but when we first met, there was one piece missing: forgiveness.

I have spoken many times over the years about the power of forgiveness, particularly with respect to what happened on August 30, 1974, at the grave site of my father. For years, I had been filled with rage at this man who had abandoned my mother, my two older brothers, and me (I was just an infant at the time). I had been so resentful of him for so long that my first impulse was to urinate on his grave. But then in one Divine moment, I was able to send love where hatred and bitterness had previously resided. That forgiveness changed my life, and ultimately caused me to call my father my greatest teacher.
