Chris hasnt forgotten where he comes from. In 2014 he and his agent donated a brand-new 83-seat to the Concord Youth Theatre.
Chris love of drama definitely runs in the family. Long before he lit up the big screen, he hit the stage at Concord Youth Theatre. His mother, Lisa, has been Artistic Director there since 1998. But his older sister, Carly, first gave Chris the acting bug. She often directed family puppet shows and later studied theater at New York University.

Chris brother and two sisters are very much involved with the arts. Carly has directed plays at Lincoln-Sudbury High School and summer shows at Concord Youth Theatre. Chris younger sister Shanna is an art teacher. She often helps with Concord Youth Theatres set design and costumes. Chris younger brother, Scott, landed TV roles on One Life to Live and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Chris comes from an entire family of performers!

Chris has several tattoos dedicated to the people he loves. One tattoo is the Japanese character for family, which is on Chriss right arm.
Chapter 3
Taking Flight
Like many actors, Chris got his start in a casting office. However, unlike most, it wasnt by attending a casting call or audition. Instead, Chris did a summer actors.
Chris originally wanted to be an artist and go to college. After that fateful summer, he went back to Boston for his senior year at Lincoln-Sudbury. Yet he still headed into the city every week for auditions. When he scored a role on a TV , it was time to rethink his life plans. Chris future in acting was taking shape.
When the (TV) pilot got picked up and took me to (Los Angeles), we decided, Maybe college can wait.

Not Just Another Teen Heartthrob
Chris has starred in several big-screen blockbuster films. But he got his start on the small screen. His first TV role was in the short-lived Fox series Opposite Sex. He played one of just three guys in an otherwise all-girl school. Though the series lasted only eight episodes, Chris performance helped him land parts on The Fugitive and Boston Public.
Those small-screen roles helped set the stage for Chris first big break: Not Another Teen Movie. Released in 2001, the movie poked fun at the teen films of the 1980s and 1990s. Chris showed off his funny side as a high school football jock.
When I found out I had to take off my shirt in Teen Movie, I panicked and hit the gym. I was like, I cant be 140 pounds I need to put on a little bit of muscle.

Making An Impression
After Not Another Teen Movie, Chris was ready to become a leading man. The year 2004 was a big one for the actor, who landed lead roles in two movies. The first was The Perfect Score. This comedy featured teenage characters who plan an elaborate to pass the SAT exam. The film paired Chris with future Avengers co-star Scarlett Johansson. It was the first of several movies the would star in to ether.

Next up was Cellular. In this thriller, Chris character races to solve a kidnapping case using only a cell phone. Before filming began, Chris trained to do high-speed car chases at a Los Angeles stunt school.
On Cellular, Chris worked with successful actors William H. Macy and Kim Basinger. He took the time to soak up their knowledge. It was kind of like going to acting class every day.

Chapter 4
Let the Action Begin
In 2005 the film Fantastic Four took the legendary comic book superheroes to movie screens everywhere. The movie also transformed Chris from rising actor to superstar. He played one of the four main superheroes, alongside actors Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis, and Ioan Gruffudd. Together their characters battled the enemy using superpowers gained during a storm. Chris character, Johnny Storm, had the ability to fly. He could control fire and toss fireballs, earning him the nickname The Human Torch. He could even set his entire body on fire with a single command: Flame on!
