Hitlers Deaths Head Division: SS Totenhopf Division: summary, description and annotation

We offer to read an annotation, description, summary or preface (depends on what the author of the book "Hitlers Deaths Head Division: SS Totenhopf Division" wrote himself). If you haven't found the necessary information about the book — write in the comments, we will try to find it.

Formerly published as The Curse of the Deaths Head, this book is the story of the infamous SS Totenkopf Division. The soldiers wore the sinister silver insignia of the Deaths Head on their collars, and they were feared, hated and respected as one of the premier divisions in the Waffen-SS. In the early days of the war in Russia, the division covered itself in glory, but in defeat the men of the Totenkopf crashed to shame and ignominy, leaving behind a legacy of loathing unique in the annals of the battlefield

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

In the preparation of this book I have, as always, been assisted most ably by various members of the staff of the Imperial War Museum, London, notably Terry Charman and George Clout, who were tireless in answering questions and searching out relevant books and documents. I am also grateful for background on Josef (Sepp) Dietrich and Max Simon supplied by James Lucas, coauthor of Hitlers Elite: Leibstandarte-SS (Macdonald & Janes). Many other invaluable details were provided with unlimited patience by the Institute of Contemporary History and Wiener Library, London. The staffs of the London Library and Wandsworth Library also supplied much material. No one writing on SS-Panzer Division Totenkopf can fail to be indebted to Soldiers of Destruction: The Deaths Head Division 19331945
