RAYMOND TATALOVICH (Ph.D., University of Chicago) is a professor of political science at Loyola University of Chicago, where he specializes in American politics and the study of moral conflicts in public policy. Among his most recent publications are The Politics of Abortion in the United States and Canada (M.E. Sharpe, 1997) and Nativism Reborn: The Official English Language Movement and the American States (1995).
BYRON W. DAYNES (Ph.D., University of Chicago) is professor of political science at Brigham Young University. He has coauthored five books with Raymond Tatalovich (including Social Regulatory Policy, the precursor of the present collection) and written some fifty articles on the American presidency, public policy, and the Supreme Court.
THEODORE J. LOWI is John L. Senior professor of American Institutions at Cornell University.
GARY C. BRYNER is professor of political science at Brigham Young University.
MARGARET ELLIS is assistant professor of political science at James Madison University.
