Chinese Academy of Environmental Planning (CAEP), founded in 2001, is a well-known think tank ranked first in the field of eco-environmental strategy, planning and policy research and a core research institution of eco-environmental decision-making and management in China. CAEPs main responsibility is surrounding the construction of ecological civilization and the beautiful China, take Chinas medium and long-term strategic planning and annual ecological environment planning, major regional development strategy of ecological environment planning and policy support, the ecological environment function division and partition governance, ecological risk assessment and ecological compensation, ecological environment investment and financing policy research, as well as Chinas central financial special funds project management and technical support.

In the past 20 years, Chinese Academy of Environmental Planning (CAEP) has been closely tracking the needs of the times of international ecological and environmental protection development, constantly strengthening scientific research, broadening business fields, deepening application practice, and focusing on environmental plan-environmental policy-environmental engineer-environmental risk. It has established a multi-field, multi-level and multi-objective research system, systematically carrying out relevant basic theories, model development, predictive analysis, system integration and engineering demonstration, forming a series of high-quality research results, and training a group of influential experts and scholars, leading the continuous development of environmental planning and policy discipline in China.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of CAEP, we have compiled the collection of Environmental Strategy and Planning in China, showing the important research results of our institute in the field of environmental strategy and planning in recent years. It covers the research fields in the Belt and Road eco-environmental cooperation, Chinas five-year plan for eco-environmental protection, the action plans for preventing and controlling air, water and soil pollution, sustainable development goals assessment, biodiversity conservation and human health loss assessment. In the past, these achievements have played an important scientific role in supporting Chinas ecological and environmental protection, and produced extensive social impacts and significant environmental benefits. At the same time, the relevant research ideas and methods also show the latest progress and trend in the field of environmental strategy and planning in China in recent years, which can be used for reference by experts and scholars of other countries in the field of ecological environment.

In 2021, CAEP will open a new development stage. It is expected that it will continue to uphold the development concept of practice, innovation, leadership and harmony, lead the strategic planning research on Chinas ecological civilization, green development and ecological environmental protection strategic planning, and become a blueprint maker, firm implementer and active disseminator of the construction of a beautiful China, in order to contribute more wisdom and strength to the development of Chinas ecological and environmental protection and the joint efforts to build a clean and beautiful earth!
