The Talmud says that the "world awaits the physical and emotional return of the mourner." We dedicate this book to members of our communities who perished, survived, witnessed, or suffered personal losses, with the events of September 11, 2001, and of Hurricane Katrina (August 29-30, 2005) and for whom a return to the fullness of life has not as yet been possible. This book is also dedicated to our colleagues for whom "repairing the world" is an essential value in tirelessly caring for the survivors of these and future horrific and heartbreaking disasters.
