Adaman, Fikret (BA and MA in Economics at Boazii University; PhD in Economics at Manchester University) is currently professor of economics at Boazii University. He was one of the delegate members representing the civil society of Turkey on environmental issues at the Johannesburg Earth Summit of 2002 (WSSD). His articles appeared in, among others, International Review of Sociology, Studies in Political Economy, New Left Review, Cambridge Journal of Economics, Review of Political Economy, Economy and Society, and New Perspectives on Turkey. He is co-editor of Integrating and Articulating Environments (published by Swets & Zeitlinger) and Economy and Society (published by Blackrose). He has published extensively in Turkish on the political economy of Turkey.
Adem, idem (BA in Economics at Middle East Technical University; MA in Sociology at Middle East Technical University) is currently reading for a PhD in Sociology at Middle East Technical University and acting as a research assistant in Urbanization and Environmental Studies at the Public Administration Institute for Turkey and the Middle East. She has a long-standing interest in environmental issues both as an academic and as an activist and has attended the Johannesburg World Summit on Sustainable Development (2002) and UNEP Global Youth Forum Denmark (2002) as the NGO delegate of Turkey. Recently, she conducted fieldwork in Artvin, Turkey, on the socio-economic status, participatory processes and mechanisms and the naturesociety relationships as part of a Global Environmental Facility (GEF-II) Project.
Aksoy, Zhre (BA in Political Science at Boazii University; MA and PhD in Political Science at University of Massachusetts Amherst) is currently a post-doctoral fellow in International Center for Advanced Studies at New York University. Her research interests focus on political economy of development and environmental politics. She is joint editor of Developing Nations: Latin America, the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa , Volume V of Comparative Politics: Critical Concepts in Political Science , to be published by Routledge.
Arsel, Murat (BA in Economics and Government at Clark University; MSc. in the Politics of the World Economy at London School of Economics; PhD in Human Geography at University of Cambridge) is currently a lecturer and a post-doctoral research associate in Environmental Studies at the University of Chicago. His recent publications include Risk society at Europes periphery? Reflections on the Bergama resistance (in O. Seippel, F. Gken, M. OBrien, F. Adaman, U. Zenginobuz and J. Grolin (eds). Integrating and Articulating Environments: A Challenge for Northern and Southern Europe, Swets and Zeitlinger: Lisse, 2003). His next two research projects will address transnational energy politics and the future of modernization in Turkey.
Aydn, Zlkf (BA in Sociology at Ankara University; PhD in Sociology and Social Policy at University of Durham) is currently the deputy director of the Centre for Development Studies at Leeds University. He has been the MA course director since his arrival at the university in 1990. He has taught at the University of London, University of Durham, Yarmouk University (Jordan), Middle East Technical University (Turkey) and the Aegean University (Turkey). His main research interests are rural transformation, food security, state and society, structural adjustment in developing countries and de-collectivization in the former Soviet Union. He has conducted fieldwork research in Turkey, Jordan and Uzbekistan. He has published numerous articles in the field of development and he is the author of Underdevelopment and Rural Structures in Southeastern Turkey (Ithaca Press) and The Political Economy of Turkey (Pluto Press).
arkolu, Ali (BA and MA in Economics at Boazii University; MA in Economics at Rutgers University; PhD in Political Science at SUNY-Binghamton) is currently associate professor at Sabanc University, stanbul. Working on international political economy, public choice theory and Turkish politics (with special interest on South East Anatolian Development Project), he has jointly published The Political Economy of Regional Cooperation in the Middle East (Routledge, 1998), and his articles appeared in, among others, Turkish Studies, New Perspectives on Turkey, Political Studies, Electoral Studies, and European Journal of Political Research .
Eder, Mine (BA in Political Science at Boazii University; MA in Foreign Affairs at University of Virginia; PhD in Government and Foreign Affairs at University of Virginia) is currently associate professor in political science at Boazii University. Her areas of research are international political economy, political economy of development and Turkish politics (with special interest on South East Anatolian Development Project). She has jointly published The Political Economy of Regional Cooperation in the Middle East by Routledge, 1998, and her articles appeared in Studies in Comparative International Development, Middle Eastern Studies and Critical Sociology.
