Editors
Rebecca Friedman is Associate Professor of History and Co-Director of the Miami-Florida European Union Center of Excellence (MEUCE) and Director of European Studies at Florida International University. She is the author of Masculinity, Autocracy and the Russian University (Palgrave 2005) and the co-editor of Russian Masculinities in History and Culture (Palgrave 2002) as well as numerous articles on gender, culture and domesticity in Russia and Europe. Her current research explores domestic interiors in fin-de-sicle Russia.
Markus Thiel is Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics and International Relations at Florida International University. He has published The Limits ofTransnationalism in the EU: Collective Identities and EU Integration (Palgrave 2011), and co-edited Diversity in the European Union (Palgrave 2009) and Identity Politics in the Age of Globalization (First Forum Press 2010). In addition, he has published various articles and book chapters on identity issues and European political sociology more generally. His current research focuses on the linkage of transnational NGOs in the EU Fundamental Rights Agency.
Contributors
Marion Demossier is Senior Lecturer in French and European Studies, University of Bath, UK. Marion Demossier trained as a social anthropologist at the EHESS in Paris where she gained her PhD. She is the author of various works on wine producers, drinking cultures and wine consumers in France and has published on cultural identities in France and Europe. Her first monograph, Hommes et vins: une anthropologie du vignoble Bourguignon (Editions universitaires de Dijon 1999) won the Prix Lucien Perriaux. She has also edited a book entitled The European Puzzle: The Political Structuring of Cultural Identities in Europe (Berghahn 2007) and her second monograph Wine Drinking Culture in France: A National Myth or a Modern Passion? has just been published by the University of Wales Press. She has worked for many years with the wine industry and is currently involved in a UNESCO project.
Sophie Duchesne-Guilluy is Centre Nationale de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) Senior Researcher, member of the Institute for Social Sciences of Politiques (ISP, Nanterre University), and Associate Member of the European study centre at Sciences Po (Paris). She is currently publishing the results of the CITAE project (Citizens talking about Europe), a joint qualitative and comparative project research between Sciences Po, the University of Oxford and the Catholic University of Louvain la Neuve, on attitudes toward European integration (to be published by Palgrave 2012, with F. Haegel and V. Van Ingelgom). She was the editor of the 30th issue of Politique Europenne
