Professor Amitava Mukherjee Ph.D. was educated at Ranchi University, Ranchi; Rice University, Houston and at University of South Florida, Tampa. He researched at Rice University, Houston; Stanford University, Stanford; London School of Economics, London and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, London. Dr. Mukherjee is currently the Executive Director of Development Tracks in Research Training and Consultancy, a knowledge enterprise in New Delhi and is consultant to various UN agencies and international organisations in and outside India. He has written and lectured extensively on issues of hunger, food security and poverty almost worldwide, including at the UN. He has over two dozen books and numerous papers to his credit. His contributions to micro-level planning, participating development, food security and hunger are internationally recognized.
